Do you "look" your size?

This might sound like a strange question but I am curious to hear what people think. I weigh 373 lbs. (down from 383.4) but I really don't think people would guess that I weigh that much. My weight is distributed somewhat evenly - yes I have a giant butt however I have giant thighs and stomach too so it's not like one thing sticks out. A friend of ours recently revealed to me that she weighs 253 lbs. I didn't tell her how much I weighed but when I asked my husband and my sister ( both of whom are very honest with me) if they thought I weighed more than the friend, they both said no way. I know that they were not just saying that to spare my feelings.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make her is that I don't think I look like I weigh
nearly 400 lbs. Does anyone else ever feel like that?

I have always been that way. At my highest weight/size, I weighed 275 and wore a size 20 (really a 22/24, but I never bought any clothes in that size) at 5'10". No one ever guessed my size, and I had a friend who was a bit shorter than me but wore the exact same size as me, actually had a slightly smaller waist, and she looked quite a bit bigger than me. I think that for me it has to to with my height and my build. For as heavy as I am, I am still very proportionate, with a slightly large chest compared to the rest of my measurements. I also have very lean legs for my size--my friend who wore the same size as me couldn't even get some of my jeans around her knees! I remember when I was "skinny" and weighed about 200 lbs and I had a bunch of people trying to guess my weight...most guessed not above 150, and only one person said not above 160. I can't wait to get back to those days. Right now I feel that I am showing my weight more than I ever have before, and it sucks, but, soon the weight will be gone, and I won't need people to think I'm 160 when I weigh 200--I'll just really be that size! Oh how I long for the day when my true weight is that of the weight on my drivers' license!

I have the opposite problem. I'm short at 5'2" and, I swear, every pound looks like 2lbs more! LK

I'm short too, standing at a big 5feet. Being at my highest weight now (270) I know I feel I look my weight. But even last summer (40lbs lighter) I felt I didn't look my weight. I've always tried to dress fashionably and for my size. I just recently told someone what my weight is and (having no reason to be nice to me or spare my feelings either) couldn't believe I was the weight I am. It's kinda weird huh?

I feel somewhat like Staci. I am 5’8” and I long for my “skinny” day of being 200lbs. Sometimes I just can’t get over how I thought I was fat, and in fact I looked like a bean poll! I too am pretty evenly proportioned, even though I have a smaller bust size. Now at 275lbs, I am the largest I have ever been. It is really embarrassing because before I only thought I was fat, and now I really AM! I don’t think that people process that I am almost 300lbs, but I know they can see I am quite large. It is amazing the difference that 40 lbs makes! I gained all of this weight all at once after going through 2 pregnancies back to back, my first daughter passed away, and two months later I was pregnant again with my now 20 month old daughter Aydyn. I never had time really to cope with the death of my first daughter, so I think that has a lot to do with my eating habits, Also the fact that my boyfriend had been cheating on me for about 3 months and I just found out in March. That has not helped. Anyway, long post to a short question. I’m sorry. -Christie

I think that all the time. My highest weight was 287. I knew I was really heavy but I didn't think I weighed that. I thought I was in the 270s. When I see pics of myself, I look big, but do I look that weight? I know people are sure I'm well over 200 pounds but where they think I'm at in there is anyone's guess. Now my mother is overweight but not nearly as much as me. She had gone over 200 for a very short period of time but you would never have known by looking at her. I guess we are very dense people! :o) Kristi <><

Christie, bless your sweet heart. Girl, you have sure been through some trauma. Luckily each day is new and each new day is a clean slate and full of possibilities. I am so sorry for you losing your first daughter. For some reason she was not destined to be here. Yes, you need to be able to go through all the feelings you have about that, just like anyone else. But I am so happy that you have Aydyn and have all that love you had ready for your first baby and can shower it on Aydyn. I'll bet she is even more precious to you because of what you've been through.
Christie, I hope the cheating boyfriend is no longer in your life in a way that he can still hurt you. Although he is Aydyn's father, he doesn't need to be in a position to lie to you and keep you hanging onto his lie. Again, bless your sweet heart and Aydyn's too. From one Kristi to another Christie :o)

When I weighed in at 308lbs I didnt look it either. Now that Im down to 226lbs, I still do not look it. I have a big butt and huge knockers (48dd to be exact) so I have an hour glass fugure. I look about 190-200lbs.
