I've never really believed that "diet pills" worked, but I bought some Dexatrim Max 3 days ago and have lost 3 pounds since then. The only thing is that its keeping me up--I only need about 5 hours sleep a night now, and I used to need 8 and still be tired. I'm not convinced that is necessarily a bad thing. Have you guys ever tried anything like Dexatrim? and how did it work for you?

Hey Grace~

I have been on Leptopril, for the last month. On & off... Im really bad about sticking to the pills... but they are REALLY great for appetite supression. They do haev a tendency to keep me awake as well.. but the sleepless wears off after a time I find. I am not familiar with Dexatrim, however. The results are very encouraging for me, because I have gone through massive weight loss before ( & unfortunately put it BACK ON!) but with the leptopril it feels easier... and like Im making more progress. Best of Luck with Dex & let us know how well it works!!!

I haven't take Dexatrim in years. Most of them back then had ephedra, now it's replaced with some form of caffeine which is why it keeps you awake.

I'm not a big fan of 'diet pills' either, but I'm thinking about trying Xenadrine40+. It says no stimulants and is formulated to help those over 40 lose weight. I've got a $5 off coupon sitting here so we'll see.

Well, I've never liked Dexatrim or any of that stuff. I found (in the past, when I used them...mostly in college) that I'd lose the weight, but then put it back on when I stopped using the pills.

They don't help you learn portion control or healthy eating habits. The weird thing....now, they make me eat MORE! I tried them like 5 years ago, and I ate like a mad woman! LOL

Good luck w/it, but I wouldn't give up on the exercise and healthier eating.

I have to agree. For me, suppressing my appetite isn't enough. I'm an emotional eater, so my problem is that I eat whether I'm hungry or not. Just making me not hungry isn't going to help me with that.

Hi there

I just wanted to let you know that that I know a lot about these
so called marketing diet aids and they contain only normal vitamins and minerals and/or herbs. Ephedra is available again in drug stores at certain low doses as the U.S and Canadian governments have deemed it safe in small doses. I saw your stuff and I beleive it contains herbs. Some do not work and some are diuretics only, raise blood pressure
So please be careful I did not buy it. Your best bet is Doctor prescribed or any bulking agent befrore meals. Ginseng is a metabolism booster It increases your energy level. You can buy them seperately and for cheaper. Good luck and let me know.

I agree with the post regarding not using the diet pills and instead learn portion control, behavior modification and getting proper exercise (ex. aerobics while staying within your target heart rate range, etc). Learning those tools will help you (and me too) for a lifetime. I also am an emotional eater and years ago when I tried dexatrim it didn't help because I would find myself eating eventhough I may not have felt hungry. However, good luck with your program.

I'm also an emotional eater but I've also found that if I start dropping the weight then I'm jazzed enough to keep it going on my own. For me it's getting going again that's the hard part. And of course, for me, it's mental. If I'm doing something or taking something that is supposed to do something positive, then I'm more likely to see those positive results because I EXPECT them. Make sense?

I've done the diet pills in the past, all kinds of 'em, and they did work some. I used the Xenadrine 2 years ago when I first started trying to lose weight. I used them in addition to a calorie/portion controlled diet, and I have to say that they did help me at the time. They helped me not want to eat just because I was bored or for emotional reasons. It's like they helped my "full" switch come on. I did only use them for a month, until the bottle was gone, but I lost 25 lbs in that 1 month. I kept up my healthy eating and lost another 15 lbs in the next two months. I managed to keep all of that weight off for almost a year, but then I just completely went off track and stopped caring about what I was eating. I tried taking the pills again, just before I started this eating plan that I'm on now, and I had the same experience as Dawn (I think??)--they made me more hungry. They did rev up my metabolism, but because of that I ate more and I felt more OUT of control, not more IN control. I don't have any intentions of taking diet pills anymore, because I am finally getting myself in control of my eating, and that's always been my goal. I think that some diet pills are okay in moderation if they do not harm your health and if they help you get your eating under control. If used as a tool to learn to stop eating when you are full and help you recognize true hunger, then they are not all bad. Just make sure you don't become dependant on them. When I took diet pills the first time around, I never even took the full recommended dosage, and most of the time didn't take them on the weekends, and they still worked for me.

Staci
