hi i was lurking and reading some posts and i decided to introduce myself
im a mom who will be 35 soon and have gained weight w/each of my 4 kids...
at this point i should lose at least 100lbs. but i dont know if that is realistic.
i dont reallly want to focus on the number just how i look and feel. i dont want to be that "fat mom" if you know what i mean.
my kids are 14, 7, 5 and 19 months. i have gained about 40 lbs since my wedding over 9 years ago.
its just that i ruin my diet all on my own..i do well and then i just stop doing it.
i dont know why...plus im an emotional eater..when i get stressed or upset i will search out the food....maybe that explains why i have gained so much weight!!
im trying to be upbeat about losing but i know that im ready now...
i actually started about 3 weeks ago and im down 10 lbs...that doesnt seem like much since i still need 100 more to go..but it is a step in the right direction....
i hope i can stay motivated and really get it done this time...its better for my health and for my family!!

Welcome to the board! You've come to the right place--everyone is so supportive and helpful on here. Ten pounds down is a great loss! That makes you 10% of the way there in only 3 weeks. A lot of us make mini goals to lose 10-25 lbs at a time, instead of thinking of the daunting 100+ we need to lose. I generally try to reward myself for every 10-20 lbs lost with a massage, new clothes, etc. On a lot of people, 10 lbs can make the difference of a dress size, even!
I think that it's great that you want to focus on your health and don't want to obsess about the scale; that's a very healthy approach to this. In the past, I've focused only on the numbers on the scale, and done some unhealthy things to get those #s down. Now, I'm focusing on being healthy while I'm losing weight, and I feel great. So far I've lost about 25 lbs in the past 2 1/2 months (with a 3 1/2 week break, too), and I know that with your success so far, you can do the same.
