The Thin Commandments--Part Deux

Intrigued by the earlier post, I did a search on Google. I came across the following article on WebMD about a book called--you got it--The Thin Commandments. It looks at the strategies successful dieters use to lose weight and maintain their weight loss.

http://my.webmd.com/content/Article/106/108194.htm

1. Strategy is stronger than willpower.

2. Think historically, not just "calorically."

3. The problem may be in the food, not you.

4. Structure gives control.

5. Separate mood from food.

6. Take control of your favorite foods.

7. Slips should teach you, not defeat you.

8. Stop feeling deprived.

9. Treat your calories like dollars.

10. Losing weight is half the job. Keeping if off is the other half.

So, related to what Kerstin wrote in the earlier post, how does one develop enough structure and control to lose 100+ pounds and keep it off, but not develop anorexia or bulimia? Does anyone here worry that you are developing unhealthy habits in your efforts to lose weight?

Sometimes I think I'm too structured--I still count every calorie I eat (and have for over two years now). But since I'm only going to the gym two or three days a week and posting here instead of studying, I'm clearly not structured enough! I'd love to hear what others think.

Do i fear anorexia no.. DO i fear laxatives.... a big YES.. Long time ago as a preteen mom sent me to weight watchers... well as i got older and wiser so i thought i could beat the scale by downing laxatives...a box here a box there just to show a weight loss.. I fear the scale and fear posting to you all if i gain or stay the same.. Maybe, its a good thing cuz this time is the longest since my teens i stuck with something... Are laxatives in the future.. I dont know i cant honestly say no... Right now its water pills and bogus zetacaps.. Yes at first they worked they gave the illusion of feeling full.. more like bloated but it was a crutch to get my eatting habits in check.. I still on occasion use them.. Like when theres a picnic but at home im usually surrounded by what i can eat and ill be darned to let the others see me cheat... As far as calorie wise.. Im scared to go over 1000 .. I was once an elaine powers sorta like a curves and was doing 1200 calories and not going anywhere.. Lost inches but no weight which was a good thing.. At that point id be lucky as a teen to eat a grilled cheese and a salad and off to better things like partying.. i remember once trying to wear a size 9/10 pants.. I weighed at that point 125 pounds 5'5 and bones like a horse they stuck out all over.. I basically did a no eat and ended up passing out to wear these pants... So i guess yes i must take care and watch myself but with Jamis help Im not afraid ... Darn this got so long sorry

I like those...especially "Slips should teach you, not defeat you" and "Take control of your favorite foods."

I really don't see myself in any of those commandments.
