Hi everyone...I'm new to this whole diet thing and I have to lose like 60 pounds in 4 months...Do you think that's possible because I don't. I don't really have a lot of time for excercise but I know that I need to cut a lot of calories out and fast. If anyone has any ideas that will help me out, I would really appreciate it...Thanks

Hi, Sully! Why do you have to lose it all in 4 months? You sure didn't gain it all in 4 months and anything more than 2 pounds a week probably won't stay off, especially not without exercise. You would have to lose more than 4 pounds per week, every week, to reach your goal which is really a bit unrealistic.

You also don't want to cut too many calories or your body will go into starvation mode and hoard every calorie. So you need an achievable goal, maybe 25 pounds in 4 months; you need some form of exercise; you need to figure out how many calories you need, at least 1200 per day; and you need to adjust your thinking and realize that what you want and what is possible aren't the same thing.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but 60 pounds in 4 months is just not a healthy goal.

I am sorry but it really isn't healthy to lose 60 pounds in 4 months. most Dr's suggest losing 2-3 pounds per week on average. Some weeks you might lose more and some weeks less. It is possible to lose weight with out exercising, but it is much harder. Even if you can only get 30 minutes 3 times a week it would be a great start. Try to eat lots of whole grains, fruits and veggies and lean meats. Stay away from sugar, processed flour(white bread and rice), and fried foods. Drink lots of water and stay away from soft drinks. good luck. sharla

It's possible to get 60 pounds off in 4 months but you would pay for it with your health. You'd have to be near starvation on a desert island like Tom Hanks in "Castaway."
Whatever it is that you need to lose this amount of weight for, is it worth it? Kristi :o) <><

I agree that it's possible to lose weight without exercising. We've all done it, but you are more likely to lose lean muscle mass rather than fat when you do. Muscle burns calories and exercise builds muscle. People can be at their desired weight but still not be physically fit because they don't have enough lean muscle tissue.
