Going on a "healthy" diet

No counting points, calories, or carbs! I did this about a month ago, I knew subconsciously how many calories I was getting since I did so many diets before, but I lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks just eating very healthily..and in those 3 weeks I also had a regular soda (not diet) 2 hersheys bars and a huge mexican enchilada dinner. So I am trying it again after a little break! It is basically a food pyramid diet (the new food pyramid) You have to stick in so much fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy and protein that you really dont have room for junk food and fried foods. Just takes a little will-power and a lot of analyzing what you are putting in your body. So in case you're curious, this is a sample meal plan..

DAY 1

breakfast: Bran cereal w/FF milk and banana slices

Snack: 1 cup canned peaches

Lunch: Tuna Sandwich on wheat bread w/lettuce & tomato slices, carrot sticks, strawberries

Snack: String Cheese

Dinner: Meatloaf Lean Cuisine (chicken and veggies) FF Cottage Cheese, FF milk

Congrats on the 12 lbs!! I too am following the "healthy diet". I did it before and managed to keep the weight off for 5 years. The thing is, once you reach your goal weight, you are already used to this lifestyle and it continues. For me, this is better than going on a formal diet with restricted carbs, etc. Cuz once i'm off the diet, i start eating that again and gain slowly.
Keep us updated!! We need some motivation here!!
