10 year highschool reunion coming soon

Hi there, I am new to this forum and by the posts it looks just like what I need. I am 26 years old, 5'8, and weigh 312 lbs. I am looking to lose around 150lbs. I have been overweight since the age of 10, gaining about 10 lbs a year. I have tried numerous diets and even considered the lap band surgery. I have come to this conclusion...I can't commit to something short term to lose the weight. This must be a way of eating that I can continue throughout losing weight and then to maintain the weight loss. So, I am using weight watchers as a guide. I am constantly reminding myself that this weight didn't come on overnight so it definitely won't come off overnight. I am taking this journey day by day.

I have a gym membership, a ladies gym that has a complete line of cardio equipment, weight machines, and aerobic classes. I feel so comfortable working out there! My problem is being consistent. I commute to work...which adds around 2 hours on top of my normal 8 hour day. So I am tight for time. I have to tell myself that in order to see a change I must CHANGE. I am aiming to work out 5 times a week: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. If I can't make it to the gym before they close then I will go to the track or use a work out video at home.

As for the 10 year reunion (YIKES!!) that will take place summer of 2007. My best friend and I have set this as a date to lose our weight by. My reasons for losing the weight are to prevent future health problems, taking the weight off of my knees and back (which hurt on a daily basis), to embrace life more and feel better about myself.

Thanks :)

Hi welcome to the board. That sounds awesome that you have a womens gym in your area other than curves, or is it curves? I wish we had something like that in my area. Good luck on your weight loss.

Yes, I love my gym. It is not Curves...it is called Fitness For Her. I beleive that cardio goes hand and hand with working out, so this fits my needs great. Also, they have so many choices on different work outs. I wish they would have more of these around the country. Have a good weekend and good luck on your weight loss too :)
