Hello everyone. I did not mean to cause any harm on this board. I didn't do my part and introduce myself properly. I thought I did in my last post but for some reason it wasn't taken good heartedly. I usually introduce myself in that manner simply because on my personal website I have an all about me page if anyone is interested. I don't know about you, but for me it's easier to have it typed up when I'm meeting new people.. sorta like a bio, and if anyone has one of themselves, I would be happy to read it. I have been asked by ivillage not to post it, so I will obey the rules. I've been a member of Ivillage for 7 years. My daughter was still in my tummy when I was posting away to the Expecting boards. I even still talk to my old cl! Anyway, here's a little intro of me.

Hello.. I'm Yvette, I'm 27, my b-day is June 6. My user name is Skylar because that's my daughter's name. I'm a single mom and work full time and have another part time job. I love photography, skating, and outdoor activities, as well as a strong advocate for weight loss. I usually don't approach people, but have found that the best way to discuss it is on boards or if someone finds out about my success and comes to me. If I can just inspire one person, then that's all I care about. I also believe in God's love and strength, as I am a Christian. I'm also raising my daughter to have strong beliefs in Christ.

I look forward to getting to know some of you!

Sincerely,

Yvette

Thank you for the welcome! I will keep that in mind. I was a bit discouraged, but I will come in here and read what I can to help out others. It's something I enjoy doing. :-)

I looked at your webpage and followed the links. As far as I can see (I did the free profile questionaire) the whole this is about common sense in eating and exercising. It

That's awesome that you already have the tools, now it sounds like you need the motivation. Is there anyone that can be an accountability partner with you?

My problem was that I knew you had to eat healthy and exercise, but I didn't know what that looked like or how to go about starting, and besides that I always wanted the easy way out. I thought there was some magic pill that could zap away the weight without changing my eating habits. When my efforts at finding that pill were futile, I began eating healthy, which I thought was only salads, and I exercised like crazy, but I could never lose. Sometimes it would be maybe a few pounds, but they would always come back. I needed guidance, something I never had, until I got the program that I used. There are many programs out there that are helpful, but you are right, it is implementing them. The one I bought was very easy to implement in my life, so I think that's the main reason why it worked for me, I also didn't have to over-exercise. I actually didn't even exercise for the first few months and still lost weight. About 70% of weight loss will be a result of the foods a person eats. People who cannot lose easily have very slow metabalism, which must be kicked into gear to lose weight successfully.

These online groups are awesome to keep you accountable... also find others around you to keep you to your word. After I started losing, I began mentioning it to a few people at work. I knew I would have to face them everyday and explain myself if I gave up, so it was one incentive to keep going... and not only that, the weight loss was the kicker. So, if you can tell others, that can help keep you in line.

That's awesome about how your granddaughter is being raised. Little children have such strong faith when they are exposed to God's love. Some kids may not have an earthly father, but they do have a heavenly one.

Thanks for the message!

When it comes to food in my life it is never easy. My allergies (and my family's allergies) decide what I can and cannot eat. The more I prepare myself the more I can have. I looked at your FAQ page and the question about dining out. I am going out for dinner next Friday evening and am very cautious about it. I do not know if it is a buffet or a pre-ordered dinner. Either way has dangers involved.

For me eating healthy means avoiding sweets, white breads and pastas, and limiting fruits. These are also the easy foods when you are on the go, which I am on the go just about constantly. One strange quirk that I have is accountability issues. I quite smoking in 1998. I told no one until I had it under control. I think I had gone over a week smoke free before I let anyone know what I was doing. I find the same thing goes with diet. As soon as someone mentions my weight loss, I usually gain it back before it is noticed by anyone else. I need to deal with feelings that go with it. I may have to write a post here that "tells all".

Must go! I am on the move again.
