Kerstin, 33, 262/259/240

And some questions :)

1. What are your goals for this month?
My goals this month are to continue journaling, drop 5 lbs. and strive to get in at least two days of physical activity a week.

2. Are you moving in a positive direction with your new lifestyle choice?
Today yes.

3. What motivates you?
It's silly but reading success stories motivates me. And coming here and seeing the successes of our other members really motivates me as well. Plus looking at all the cute clothes I want to wear, but will probably be out of fashion by the time I get to wear them!

4. What discourages you?
The scale!

Reading and posting on the board, looking at clothes and pics of me 2 years ago when i was 165 & when people say: you look great, it shows you're losing weight!

4. What discourages you?
Not seeing the weight on the scale. Knowing i was "good" and not seeing results.

Shawna - So glad to see you back. Hopefully we can help you with meeting your goals and staying on track. You've done it once, so we know you can do it again!

Mary - good luck on keeping to your goals. Don't forget to come back and post so we can encourage and congratulate you on your accomplishments!

Laura - good luck with your goals this month. I love your long term goal about not having to buy two plane seats! And getting encouragement from your dad's diabetes! I hope we can help you and hope that you come back often!

Becky - on your goal for exercising...try starting small. Maybe just a 15 minute walk each day. I think that helps me when I start small. I get encouraged and want to keep going. Let us know how you do!

Suzie - you are an inspiration girl! Keep coming back because I know seeing how well our members do keeps me motivated as well!

Good to see you all here....anyone else??

Jessica, 25, Oregon, 242/187/130

1. What are your goals for this month?

To quit screwing around with my diet and exercise. I have regained about 9 pounds since January, and it needs to stop NOW.

2. Are you moving in a positive direction with your new lifestyle choice?

No. I let myself get off track this year, and it's been a downward spiral. I'm lucky that I haven't regained very much weight, but I'm disturbed by it nonetheless. The thought of regaining it all makes me sick to my stomach.

3. What motivates you?

The thought that if I don't take control I could weigh 242 pounds again. Oh, and the really cute attorney I've had a crush on for over a year!

4. What discourages you?

I only get discouraged when I make poor choices. I have no one to blame but myself at those times.

1. What are your goals for this month?

Trying to remind myself to eat regular meals and snacks so I don't attack my plate at dinner. Start back getting some exercise 3x a week. Get to 250. Eat a portion of carbs at a meal, I really load up on them.

2. Are you moving in a positive direction with your new lifestyle choice?

Somewhat, yes. I'm a little short on food right now, so that makes it easier to not overeat. But, once I make groceries, I'll see if I can be true to myself and keep it up.

3. What motivates you?

The scale (in some ways), I can tackle a small weight gain before it becomes a large one. Looking at the sizing charts in catalogs and thinking about how much I want to be a particular size, and how much I want to close my eyes and walk into a store KNOWING that they carry my size. Reminding myself that my issues with my weight are an important part of my life, but they do not define who I am or my self-worth.

4. What discourages you?

The scale, if I did my best and it doesn't move. Being hungry or having the "taste" for something, I know I have to eat but sometimes regret that I do for fear I'll eat too much. Thinking that I'll never get to wear certain clothes because even if I did lose a lot of weight, I'll always have to disguise the residual effects of putting on so much weight. When the FIRST thing I ask myself if I see a cute guy is "I wonder if he likes big girls," not "is he single" or "I wonder if he'd be interested (in general)."

Name, Age, Stats (if you like)

Hi - I'm Grim (well, actually I'm Michelle but some nicknames just stick and stick hard), and I'm new here. I'm 34 years old, and just this past Friday was driven over the edge by a weigh-in at the Dr's office. I weighed 256.

1. What are your goals for this month?

I haven't really gotten to goal-setting yet because I'm just focused on 100 pounds, 100 pounds, 100 pounds and it's too overwhelming to deal with. I see some of you have 20 pound goals - that's a great idea. I am going to start moving more and sitting less, possibly join Curves....

2. Are you moving in a positive direction with your new lifestyle choice?

Sure hope so!

3. What motivates you?

The desire to be a healthy, active mom. I don't want to have to limit my son's activity because I can't keep up. If he wants to go bike-riding or hiking or whatever, I want to be able to go.

4. What discourages you?

Right now, everything, lol. Though I did find some old pictures of myself over the weekend. THAT was a hard blow. And I had just decided that I was going to go for a walk, and it has started pouring out, which is annoying.
