I often feel the same way about missing cigarettes.

I can understand this, I ususally have a few drinks (5-6) on the weekend...but I'm trying to limit that to once a month now. Of course me being 26 I have lots of friends who want to go out and have a few drinks, which is always fun. But, now my health is more important.

Also, when I was in highschool I drank tons of Dr. Pepper. I would drink it with my meals and when at a restaurant I would get 4 refills and that was no big deal. I decided at that time I was drinking too much D.P. so I committed to drinking water with my meals. Ever since then I seem to enjoy my meals better with water :) (my fav is with a lemon squeezed in it as a treat). I still have the need to refill my drink, atleast it is water though. Every once in a while I will have a diet coke or no cal peach tea with a meal, but I always drink a glass of water with it.

Isn't it weird how some habits become so ingrained that we feel out of place without them? I myself have never been one to have wine or alcohol with my dinner on a regular basis, but I am a big BIG soda drinker. I have decided to give it up, for the health, but probably even more so for the money. And, like you said, I know it will be better if I only have it on rare occasions with a meal or something, but it feels like something is missing from my day without it. But, by my calculations, I am probably spending upwards of $50 a month on soda alone. That's about 1 2 liter a day and a 32-44 oz fountain pop from the local gas station every day! It's so weird to be sitting at work in the morning, or afternoon, and not having my soda. I am not a coffee drinker, so I always had soda in the morning if I wanted a pick-me-up. I know that I can do without it, I just need to find the motivation. I think that if I can make it through to the end of August without spending more than a couple dollars on soda, I am going to take $10-15 and buy myself a new top or something. Then, if I make it through September, I may do the same thing. This way I am still saving a few $$ over what I was spending on the soda, and I have new clothes. I guess we'll just have to see how it works out. :)

I am not a drinker or a smoker and never have been, so I don't know about that. I can be a big soda drinker. I used to drink DP all the time. I quit drinking caffien when I was pregnant, after my baby was born my friend brought me some DP because she knew how much I missed, but I couldn't stand it I hated the taste. So now I only can drink the caffiene free drinks because I don't like the taste of others. I still always want a soda and it can't be caffiene thing. I just want it, but water does always feel so much more refreshing.
