What is it that made everyone finally say 'okay, I've got to get this weight off, and I'm doing it now'.

I have had those moments since 6th or 7th grade. Of course we all know how it can be to be the fat kid in school... so I won't even go there. A couple of things more recently, REALLY frustrate me. First, the guys who thought you were the most digusting thing in school. Some (thank God) never said anything out the way, but others made my life a living nightmare. I guess it's a combination of growing up, and being somewhat smaller than I was some years ago.... I SUDDENLY LOOK GOOD!!!! Ha! That ticks me off. I don't care if I'm 300lbs or 3lbs, you didn't want me then...you sure dont want me now!! Next thing that ticked me off... I was at the bus stop this summer on my way to classes. This guy was trying to talk to me, and I was ignoring him (for some reason I guess I don't have the right to ignore ignorant people). He got ticked off and called me a FAT B**** in front of everyone. I held my head up, and called him some choice words myself. But dang if I didn't feel like a child again. ~Tasha

When I had my baby (18 months ago) I had a lot of health problems and was in the hospital for 2 weeks with complications. It was my wake up call to what life is like when you are unhealthy. I don't ever want to feel that way again. I started dieting 6 wks later. I have had my ups and down. I have quit for several months, but then I always get back on. I have had problems with my thyroid which put my weightloss at a standstill for several months, but I have yet to give up. To me this is a lifestyle change. As long as I keep trying I know I will some day reach my goal. I weighed 283 pounds when I first started trying to lose weight over a year ago. Today I weigh 226 pounds. It has taken me a long time to lose those 57 pounds and I still have a ways to go, but I know I will reach goal. For me it takes the determination not to give up.

Two summers ago I felt very out of control. I was going to Jack in the Box late at night, and knew that my weight was a problem. I started going to the gym again and counting calories. I managed to lose a little bit of weight (probably about 10 pounds). Then I had a doctor's appointment, and weighed in at 232 pounds. I also had slightly elevated blood pressure. The doctor told me I needed to lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise, and I agreed. She scheduled a follow-up for the next month, and I decided I was going to get serious. I lost 10 pounds in that month, and another 50 in the next year.

So not a really inspirational story, but it's all I got!
