What time do you exercise and why?

I started exercising at around 6:30 after work and before dinner, but by the time I finish and shower, its almost 8:00 and I feel like my night is almost over and I've barely had a chance to relax. This morning I tried doing it in the morning and waking up an hour early. I don't really feel like I had as much energy but I am happy that its over with for the day. I was looking around online to see what the best time was, but I found conflicting answers. I found that overall, the best time is around 5:00 or 6:00 PM since the muscles respond best at that time. I also read that the morning is good because it jump starts the body into burning calories earlier than it would. I guess as long as I do it, it’s a good thing. Any insight?

Well, I have heard that mornings are the best. But, I am in no way shape or form a morning person (not cranky, but very quiet). It's a challenge just to get up every morning, lol. So, I workout after work (between 5-8 pm) it depends on what time I get off of work.

I understand the feeling of not having an evening left. I go to work then to the gym then home and cook dinner then take a shower and then its time for bed.....its like a never ending cylce (I'm like a hamster in the wheel) LOL.

You should workout when it best fits your schedule. As mentioned before it is good to have a set time though.

  1. When I first got my gym membership it was meant to give me a reason to be hanging around in the next town waiting for my daughter to get off work. So I exercised after dinner.

  2. Then our schedule changed and I had to take her to work in the morning, yet still be back home

Ok I sooo need to vent on this one..

Finding a time to excercise SUCKS!!

I can never excercise in the morning. I like the mornings, but can't fit anytime to excercise. If I want to get some early excercise I'll have to wake up an hour early (around 5:30) and that is impossible for me cuz I go to bed around 12-1 am.

I can't excercise at work (don't have a lunch break).

I can't excercise when I get back from work cuz I am afraid if I start working on the bike Mark will get near me and be injured. So I have to wait till he goes to sleep.

Then the only time left for me is late evening around 10-11 pm which really sucks cuz if I'm tired, I usually skip it.

Thanks for letting me vent..

Yes Shawna, Mark is my son. But he is only 17 months old, so we can't go walking together. And I tried the stroller. It worked for 2 days, then he wants to go up and PUSH the stroller. Walking with him is fun, but not excercise.
I know that a lot of people lose without excercise, but I also know that if I don't get some excercise my weight loss will slow down and I'll hit another plateau (that's from experience). Anyways, I did excercise once this week. Maybe I can fit in another session.

When I was working out regular I was going straight after work and would still be home by 5. BUT since June I have only been a few times. When we got back from Chicago in June my knee was hurting and when that went away something was wrong with my foot and still is. I need to go to the Dr. Then in early Aug I spent 9 days with my oldest daughter(in California) taking care of her after she had knee surgery. Now I am having to share my vehicle with my youngest daughter. It just never ends now. I am a paying member of Curves but can't for the life of me get there!! Stephanie 280/250/223 for now
