Didn't Know There Was This Board....

I've about 100 pounds to lose, and doctors make it sound as easy as diet and exercise, but they never tell you about how to keep your spirits up when the goal seems forever away.

Had I known this board was here, I would have begun my posts here rather than the 30's board. It's easier to be with those who know what it's like.

I had a bad marriage, and I ate through it mostly while over-working myself with my career. I'm trying to even out my life right now, and thinking it's time to take care of it.

I am eating less, going to Curves 3 days a week, and will be taking their six week nutrition course soon! Of course, I don't know my exact weight because at Curves they weigh me with my back to the scale (LOL), but I'll know if I lost anything on the 17th.

Hoping I'm welcome here and get a few responses to posts as I struggle with this,

Renee

Thanks for the note! So, you're new here, too? :)

I try not to think about how much I have to go, as the road seems sooooooooo long; hence, I don't want curves to tell me what I weigh until I break 200.

Ah, but it could be worse... I'm 5'9" and have no health problems yet, so at least that's a positive.

What are you doing in terms of exercise?

Renee

Hi!

Thanks. I am really trying to do the diet thing right this time. I don't know how long it will take, but I'm going to try my very best without the aid of pills.... except maybe some caffeine for when I'm feeling drained. :)

Yeah, it could be because of the weekend. I had to stay home because I'm a broke teacher who can't afford to fill up my tank to visit Mom. ;-)

Hello Renee :)

I'm also healthy *knock on wood*, but I know that if I don't do something to my weight I can get sick in some point. My mom has raised sugarlevels (she has normal weight)so I don't want those too.

About my exercise....I have sweet little dog who loves to walk in the woods :)So I take walk everyday with the dog and I also swim and I have "water jogging" class every Tuesday :) I just love that. I also would like to go to the gym....but maybe later :) Now when exercise is little bit harder I want to focus on couple of things (walks and swimming)and when I loose weight I can take more exercises....that way I keep my joy of exercising :)

I weight myself ones a week...I just need to look truth in the eyes :) even if I have bad days :)

Bye :)

Hi and welcome to the board...

If you feel too overwhelmed with having 100+ to loose, break it into smaller goals. Most of us do that here. I'm now working to be 220 and afterwards I'll set a goal to 200. It is easier to look at smaller numbers and it is great when you reach a mini-goal. It gives you a feeling of achievement.

Post often & good luck

Yeah, I should make myself do that -- the smaller goal thing -- but I haven't weighed myself yet, so I don't know LOL.... I'm just guessing 250. Anywho, I did tell Curves to let me know when I break 200. So, I guess for right now that's what I'm aiming for. After that, I'll be aiming for 150, although it would be great to break that, too (but I don't want to kill myself to do it).

It's so depressing, but I'll be trying my best. I just wish my mother never told me I was fat at 155 when I was my normal weight for my height at 16! I bet I would have been a little better with weight had that, and lots of other comments, hadn't been said. :(
