Staying motivated?

Hi ladies...

How do you stay motivated when you're not making progress? I lost 3 lbs my first week, and now I'm back up 3 lbs almost a week later. I did start weight training this week, so that might have something to do with it. I've read that the muscles retain water in the healing process when they are worked. I guess that could be it. I cheated a couple of times this week, but made up for it with extra exercise or eating less the rest of the day. I didn't ever go above 1700 calories. I'm not thinking of quitting or anything, because I'm in this for the long haul, but its really discouraging to work out 6 days a week and not feel better, physically or emotionally.

Can anyone offer any tips?

It's hard to stay motivated no matter what, whether you are losing or not. The most important thing to focus on is how you feel with your exercise and eating, and how your body is changing.

You may also be eating a lot of sodium rich foods, which can lead to water retention. If you want, you can post a couple day's menus, and we can look at it to see if there is anything that might be throwing you off. After all, some of us have been doing this for years, and we have been through the same thing, we just had to figure it out on our own :).
