I'm afraid I would...

start to sabotage myself :(

I go to a nutritionist every week for a new meal plan. This week she told me cuz I already lost 20lbs last month while restricting sugar and starch, my metabolism might start to slow down. So this week we're shifting some of the calories to sugars and starch. Which is really cool...

but not so cool.. cuz I'm starting to eat way too much. I mean her statement was like a hidden green light. Yesterday, the plan had 1 small cup vanilla ice cream (regular even, not FF!). So that should have been enough treats for one day.. well.. on top of eating everything on the plan, I ate 1 cookie, 1 hard candy, 1 extra cup of milk, 1 extra serving of peanut butter, leftover french fries dipped in dressing(!), and I went for a huge ice cream cone instead of the small cup.

And it continued this morning with 2 extra cups of milk and some extra salt crackers (the rest of the package is still sitting on my desk looking at me).

I just need a kick in the right direction...

Mary...maybe being told that you have lost 20 pounds has made your mind think that you can relax.

How would your metabolism slow by having less sugar and starch? I thought eating every four hours and exercising four times a week kept your metabolism up?

Eating right and exercising does help increase metabolism. But after a person starts losing weight or not eating all the calories they were before the body thinks it is being starved so it will hold on to all the calories eaten like it needs them instead of getting rid of the excess. This will cause a person to plateau and stop losing weight for a time. During this time it is important to kinda shift gears, maybe do a different workout, or change diet techniques. I'm not saying increase calorie intake, but get your calories from other sources. Hope this helps.
