Hello everyone;
I just found this site last night and I am very happy. I feel like I may have hope. I am 257lbs, I have all the aches and pains of an obese person. Knees, back, hips, you name it I can feel it. I am going to start walking today, maybe 20 minutes to start. I always have drank tons of water. Where do you get ideas on a menue plan? that is my down fall. I can do great all day and then when night falls, I am wanting sugar. It doesn't matter how long after dinner it is. It could be one minute. That seems to set me up to fail and I end up at the corner store getting icecream, whoopie pies, etc. Then feel like a big fat failure and do it all over again the next day. I have sugar cravings that won't seem to quit. I have lost weight before but this time it seems impossible to get back into the swing of things. To become motavated is like climbing a pole with grease on it. I need to knock these cravings out and am not sure how. I have tried WW, Herbal life, Dr. Phil book, Atkins book, South Beach, I need a life change. My big problem came when I quit smoking 6 years ago. I used sugar as a substitute and have put on over 75lbs since. If anyone has any advise or if anyone has been there done that, could you please let me know. I would love to hear other stories and get ideas about what to eat. Meal plans. I am aware of the simple food like low fat, keep away from the white stuff, it is putting the plan in place and getting the right foods together so I feel full and satisfied. Sorry to go on but I am excited about this site and want to put all my info out in hopes someone can help me get on the right track. Thank you.
Allie

I have been doing WW the past few months and been fairly successful. If you can find an issue of weight watcher magazine they have 3 days of menu plans. Or you can look at some of the journal posted below. As far as the sugar I find a cup of coffee or tea after dinner helps my cravings. Or I could go do somethink like a walk to get my mind off of things. Have you tried any of the sugar free desserts and ice creams. I really like the phillyswirl popcycles from walmart and Sams. They only have 10 cals.
Good luck. sharla
Hey Allie,
I know how you feel about finding a great board to come and check in with. I am mostly a lurker at this board, but you inspired me to say something. I too have a problem with craving sweet things. I was never like that unti about four years ago. I have found that if I replace sweet, high sugar stuff with fruit it helps. It's not a cure all, but it does satisfy the sweet tooth. Often times I add natural peanut butter to my apple. It really is satisfying. The good news is that if you can just get yourself in the habit of eating fruit instead for at least a few weeks, then the cravings will almost go away. You will still have them, but they're easier to fight. Sometimes we just need some ice cream or something like that. There is nothing wrong with doing that every once in awhile. I hope this helps a little.
Take care,
Chelse
