Today is an "anniversary" for me...

I'm celebrating something that is probably going to sound pretty weird - today it has been 2 months since I last had "junk food". My biggest downfall has always been my love of "candy" - specifically salt and vinegar potato chips and chocolate bars. For years I'd have one or the other - or both - every single day, and portion sizes were gradually increasing. I can NOT allow myself reasonable size treats of these foods, as they make me lose all control. I had a "moment" at the grocery store today - I don't know if I was ready to cave or if I was just testing myself..I walked down the potato chip aisle, and actually felt *relieved* that they were all out of Salt and Vinegar. Two months is definitely the longest I've gone without that kind of junk since I was a very young child! Now I need to work on increasing my fruits and vegetables - I was doing really well for a while, but haven't had more than 1 or 2 servings a day in over a week.

That is so awesome! You are doing so great. Much better than me. Thanks for the positive and encouraging post. I needed it.
Take care,

I think this is wonderful. I did this for a while but I feel into the temptation pit and can't seem to crawl back out!!! You are my new motivation. I'm not a huge junk food person anyways-- but it still seems so hard for me.

Oh... my... God... I *love* salt and vinegar chips, so I know exactly how you're feeling. Man, they're great, especially during your time of the month. I don't know why, but I love salty, tart things then. Chocolate is a close second, but you can get dark, dark chocolate and have it be healthy, you know? Salt and vinegar chips, though, are high fat and sodium... Man, I miss them!

Good job on curbing the junk food need, though!

I know what you mean...the last time I fell into the temptation pit, it took me months to crawl out! My dieting has always been a routine of doing okay for a couple weeks, then "just giving in this once", and then spending the next six months planning to start my diet "tomorrow". The WORST part is that since I'm always planning to start "tomorrow", I feel like that gives me license to pig out all day "today". Vicious circle! So I don't DARE go there at all right now :-)

Thanks for the boost, Chelsea! It never occurred to me that it might be encouraging to someone else - I'm usually the one floundering and looking for encouragement! That made me feel really good, and even more determined to keep up the good fight :-)

Congrats on curbing the junk food need!! I luckily dont have that problem(grins). Once in a while i crave chips but if I keep them out they are not here so I cant have them. I really love ice cream though!! I now buy it in the little pints so I dont get a HUGE bowl!! It seems to be working I am only eating it a few nights a week now!! Keep up the GREAT work!!
