Where do I start? Any help would be appreciated... I dont know which diet to choose. Should I try low carb? low fat? counting calories? Well i need something to get my metabolizm moving again. I usually only eat once a day at dinner and its usually a full plate. My BMI is 52.9(i checked lastnight) I am 29 yrs old 338lbs. 5ft. 7in. tall. Yep I have 7 kids but I am willing to cook our food seperate from theirs. I have an Atkins cookbook and a light cooking cookbook. Any suggestions? I'm not sure how to start eating again without gaining a lot of weight back. Thanks for any help.....

Well I am very proud of you... Its not easy to say what we weigh.. Heck I never wanted to admit to over 350.. Im a calorie counter and do around 1500 myself give or take here and there.. I have been dieting since April and this is the first time I stuck to something more then a few weeks... If you want email me at my daughters email.. foxxyladyone@yahoo.com.. Again big hugs to you.. You made the first move :)

I think it is fine if you come here to support your friend, BUT since you only weigh 115 pounds and could never understand the feelings of someone who is 100 pounds or more over weight maybe you should think twice before you post to anyone other than your friend. I was totally appalled by your statement. This board has a disclaimer at the top explaining that it is for people with a large amount of weight to lose. Stephanie 280/250/223 for now.

Hey, be careful! Whether you can imagine weighing what we weigh or not is irrelevent and unkind IMO. The rest was fine but man that first part smarts and was of no use.

>>>I'm only 115lbs so I was just a little taken aback when you said you were 338...My best friend in the world is part of this board and I come on now and then to support her...

>>>Wow! I cannot imagine being 338lbs!

It takes alot of guts to share your weight when you are very overweight like we are.

Well I wish I had seen all your post before I left lastnight. I ended up feeling so bad for myself all night. I ended up eating a huge bowl of ice cream and 2 cheese steak sandwiches. I blew it. I'm soooo sorry. I just felt like why even bother. But now that I see everybodys posts I am feeling better. It is so nice to know I am not alone anymore and I have people I can count on. Today is a new day and I am going to do better. No more letting people hurt me and get me down. Thanks everybody for being there!!

Hi There! Wow! That's what this board if for! What did you think? I've weighed as high as 315, so if you "can't imagine weighing 338" I'd be happy to send you a photo. There have been people on this board a heck of a lot heavier than this poster, and they've LOST the weight! What DOESN'T work is shame - we don't need it, we don't deserve it, and it doesn't help us. If it truly wasn't your intention to hurt, then I thank you for your ideas and support - but please take the time to double check your sensitiviy level before you hit "post".

I totally understand the "why even bother" feeling! But try to remember WHY you are doing this. It is for YOU, to improve the quality of YOUR life - so it doesn't matter what ANYONE says - not your best friend, or your mother, or your husband...and CERTAINLY not some twig-like stranger on the internet, LOL! Get BACK on that horse and stay up there, girl! We can all do this no matter how many times we've tried before. I'm doing better than I have in YEARS - I never thought this would happen, and the support from this board has been a major push for me.
