I had a touching moment today!

I got the NICEST compliment from the most important people in the world today! I'll preface this by saying that I was feeling frustrated and a little 'down' with my current slow weight loss, and I was actually considering dropping the kids off at school and then sneaking out for some fattening food. Well, just out of the blue, my 12 year old told me that she's so proud of me, and that I'm a lot more "fun" then I was before I started the diet. My 7 year old chimed in that I'm just like the "energizer bunny" LOL - believe me, I'm nowhere near that, but I guess by COMPARISON I am. Before I started my diet on July 25, my fat butt was usually parked on the couch with a bowl of chips...lately we've been going swimming and for walks at least a few times a week. Anyway, I'm still having a hard day - but they definitely lifted my spirits! It helps me focus on the the 2 biggest reasons that I am doing this - Morgan and Kiana! It is also a real boost to know that I've improved my life ALREADY - since I always tend to think in terms of what I'll do "after" I lose the weight.

The one thing I love about kids is they will tell you the truth at the drop of a hat, out of the blue. Sometimes it's hard to hear, but needs to be heard, and other times it's just pure sugar. All in all, it's always the truth, and that's what makes their words carry so much weight. You must have felt so great afterwards. So, i bet you didn't get your fast food after such a great thing happened? ;-)

I think you nailed it right on. As for what I ate....I went home and had a bowl of oatmeal and a nectarine :-)

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's true that we don't usually realise that we are already improving our lives once we start the journey. We have to be proud of what we accomplished so far. Today I am taking my son for a walk because I CAN chase after him and I CAN actually walk! Even if I am not yet able to tackle the monkey bars. I am not going to wait until I reach my goal weight. There are things that I can do now and I am going to do them.
I got my moment today from your post. Thanks again.

Mary
