I count calories but i have done counting fat before and i didnt last long on that one. I try to keep my cals between 1200-1600 a day and i find that eating stuff with LOTS of fiber helps significantly on keeping me full. ALso, if i eat stuff that isnt high in sugar i stay full longer. I can eat a 150 calorie snack of a poached egg on toast or i can eat a 150 calories worth of diet cookies. While i enjoy the cookies, i also find that i am hungry in ten minutes...not only am i hungry but i am STARVING. So i try to stick with high fiber low sugar and it seems to work best for me. I am not a diabetic but if i keep my blood sugar even steven, i lose more weight AND i am not as hungry. Did you all know that one of insulin's jobs is to make sure that you maintain your current fat level? That blew my mind and it was like a "lightbulb moment" for me. So I try to keep my insulin in check and the fat doesnt have to fight as hard to come off quicker. Oh and a BIG bonus of keeping your blood sugar low, just try it for a few days and you will be amazed at how you just dont crave sweets anymore. Nearly all of my cravings for sweets have disappeared since i have started keeping my blood glucose low with low sugar foods.
