Spent 4 hours in ER yesterday

due to an irregular heartbeat. For about 3 weeks now, since right before I found out I was pregnant, I've been having episodes where my heart will start racing and I can feel the pulse beating away in my arm and I'll get shaky and my hand eye coordination up close is off. Well, it's been getting worse, and I had an episode Wednesday night just lying in bed and another that lasted a while yesterday morning. I called the OB nurse, and she told me to go to the ER, because I was also short of breath. They didn't come up with anything conclusive, except that my blood work came back fine and no infection. I have to go get a heart monitor put on on Monday and wear it for a few days so they can record the episodes. My OB nurse said that sometimes pregnancy can cause random episodes of tachycardia and that that may be the problem. At the hospital, I had a med student and the doctor. The student was great, but the doctor kind of annoyed me. He was like avoid the stimulants on this list (of which I had had NONE, not even chocolate or caffeine) and it was probably just a panic attack (which I have never had, but I have experienced moments of fear/panic/etc where the adrenaline kicks in, and it's completely different than this.) I'm afraid they are also thinking "oh, it's probably just cause she's so big," but I have NEVER had heart troubles before and always had normal bp, despite my weight. My bp actually improved with my recent weight loss, too.

Wish me luck that nothing too bad is wrong :)! Sorry the post was so long, but sometimes I feel closer to you guys than I do on my expecting club board and I needed to share (Neil is in Chicago until next week and he's a pain to get ahold of).

Staci
