I have been doing pretty wel lately, but man, I fell off the wagon yesterday- Parents came over to make/decorate Halloween cookies with my kids- I was picking at cookies, candy, the frosting. Then DH gets the kids MacDonalds for dinner (soccer and cub scout night...needed a quick meal) and I picked at whatever they didnt eat. Finally I was so sick of myself, I ate a brownie before I went to bed. I am back on track today- walked 45 min on the treadmill- but you would think after working so hard at this for 5 months, I would be stronger than I am when it comes to eating all the crap I know I shouldn't. UGH!! Laura.

Do you ever have a splurge day? Just a day when you tell yourself you have earned a little indulgence? I think it is healthier in the long run to have a splurge now and then, as long as you can get right back on the wagon the next day. I try to look at my dieting, not as a diet but as a healthy lifestyle and for me, it has to be something i can do FOREVER. If i "diet" forever...no indulgences, i get burnt out and then i binge. To me there is a difference in a controlled splurge and a binge. A binge is where i am out of control eating. A splurge is just an indulgence that you have planned and have control of. If you ask people that are extremily fit, even they will tell you that sometimes they too have a peice of cake...just not the whole cake. So that is why it is better to splurge on ONE peice of cake, than to hold all those cravings in and the resentment of not being able to eat it...then next thing you know, you ate the whole damn cake. So i say, dont get upset because you splurged yesterday but rejoice that you are back on today.

Honestly I think it is healthy to have a "splurge day" too. I've never called it that but I agree. If you completely cut yourself off from enjoying moments like that then you will break down!!! Enjoy -- I mean, you were making stuff with your kids!! You've got to just let go and enjoy.

I probably have "splurge days" more often then most of you. : )

When we visit my mother-in-law's I eat whatever. Cause "you can do whatever you want at grandma's". That is what my sister-in-law tells my neice -- so her husband and I both agree for us adults too!!!! : )

When I am at my sister-in-law's I eat whatever too.

It's not too bad because my sister-in-law does weight watchers so she cooks food that is pretty healthy. EXCEPT she spoils the kids with JUNK food. My kids don't eat as much junk food here in a month as they eat there in one weekend. It doesn't bother me because they know its only there.

Did I mention we go visit with them @ least 2x's a month for the WHOLE weekend!!!!

: )
