I am new here. I need to lose 125 lbs.

I have tried many things, mostly WW and calorie counting. I can't seem to stick to anything. I say I'll exercise tmorrow, but I don't. I say I'll eat better tomorrow, but I don't. I say I'll cook healthy, but I wind up going out for fast food. I can't stop myself from drive thru or Starbucks. Its killing me. Both with money and calories.

What can I do? I need help.

Well you just have to get serious with it. I call it being in "the zone"...i will wallow around, hem and haw over how i need to get with it...but all of a sudden i see a picture of myself and say, "Woah, who is that fat chic wearing my clothes?" and it knocks me into "the zone". BUt when i am where you are, i have to have something happen that pushes me over the edge. I wish there was something someone else could do to get you started or motivate you but it has to come from within.

Well, I guess I get in that zone for a day or two, and then get out of it. I don'[t know how to keep up that motivation. I hate seeing pictures of myself. They just depress me, not motivate me. I need to do this. My whole life seems to hang in the balance. Maybe if I loose enough, I'll get married, or have kids, ,or be happy or just fill in the blank.

If it were easy to get serious with it, I'd be thin by now. Obviously, a lot of people are in my same situation. I'm looking for any help I can get, tips, advice, anything.

I am walking my dog, and working in my yard, even though its a postage stamp size, and I'm trying to be more active.

I am walking and trying harder. Thanks for the help.

Wow! We have so much in common. I'm the same way with weight loss as I am with money. I know that eating out is hurting my weight loss and my pocket book. Um -- I went to a Japanese steak house like 2 hours ago.

I don't think its suppose to be easy -- from the people I know who have lost HUGE amounts of weight there is always set back moments. You just have to deal with them and not let them take you too many steps BACK. I have a friend who has already lost over 100lbs and has still over another 100 to lose. She had a setback period recently. She gained like 20lbs back -- but compared to how much she has lost it wasn't a huge setback. She is back on the weight loss now!!

I think there is nothing you can do to completely prevent it.

If you can't commit yourself more than a few days at a time, then you might be making too many changes too soon. Sometimes it is difficult to change all the bad habits we have just overnight. Make a couple of healthier choices everyday and when you feel ready, make another step. If you think you're starting to walk outside the zone, then make a compromise, satisfy a craving and return back to your plans the next minute. Don't wait till tomorrow. Just don't take it as an all or nothing deal.

Mary,
That is brilliant advice about "dont take it as an all or nothing deal"...that has been my mistake with MANY a diet. This time, and the last time i lost 100 pounds, that is what made the difference. For example, i may have ruined breakfast by eating a biscuit with gravy and sausage but that doesnt mean i have ruined it for the day. I used to just say, well i screwed up breakfast, might as well just start again tomorrow, and i would ruin lunch and dinner as well and then tomorrow would be the same thing. But now i say, well i ruined breakfast, so that means i have to really be diligent about exercise later today and really focus on my other two meals and make them the healthiest i can. That was my "all or nothing" diet sabatage that i did to myself. Now i hold myself accountable and i dont let myself stray as far off the path as i used to.

Same here.... I just cant seem to get with the program. I bought richard simmons 80's blast and guess where it is???? Sitting next to my computer where I opened it when it came in the mail. I havent even tried it. My girls tried to help bless there hearts. The all 3 got in bathing suits so they could workout with mommy. It didnt happen. They tried sat. and sun. I just didnt have the time but I think I just didnt want to. Lastnight I had hubby pickup KFC because I didnt wanna cook. It makes me feel hopeless. I can definately relate to you 100%!!

With the ever growing population, the amount of thrown away goods increases daily. Why not give that unwanted item to someone who may be able to use it? We've all got things lying around we just don't use. That's where Freecycle comes in.
