Everything I have tried failed

I need to lose about 110-120 pounds. I am so uncomrotable. I used to wear a size 5-7 now I wear a size 18-20. I swore I would never let myself go. I guess I did. I don't want to make excuses. I take meds for severe depression, so that alone doesn't help. I stopped going to the gym. Now I am so tired all the time that I have to force myself to go. As I am writing this I am eating goldfish crackers. I buy them for the kids but I like them a lot. I know what to do and how to eat to lose the weight. It's just the motivation and the dedication to do it. 2 years ago I lost 30 pounds doing atkins. Now it's all back and then some. This doesn't help my depression either. I need help. I want to go to Weight Watchers but first I have to come up with the weekly amount. I feel like screaming!!!!

Hey,
Dont look at it as "everything i have tried has faile"...instead look at it as, i just havnt found the right solution for me yet. Motivation was a big one for me too. I felt to heavy to even think about exercise...but once i got off my butt and actually did it...man oh man, it didnt take a week before i felt SO much better.
Also, you mentioned antidepressants...are you on Lexapro by any chance?...you know some of those cause MAJOR weight gain...the docs dont tell you that. But i was on lexapro and i gained about 60 pounds on it...i was tired all the time and hungry ALL the time. I got off of it and went to wellbutrin and i made a 180 turn around in my energy, food intake...the whole deal. I dont know which ones cause weight gain...but i know many of them do...it raises your insulin level...which in turn causes hunger and sweet cravings and low energy...the list goes on and on...so just try to do some investigating on the internet and see if yours has hidden side effects of weight gain.

Thank you all so much. I am on Lexapro but I am in the process of trailing off and on my way to using Prozac. I hope that doesn't make me gain more. Anyway I want to do WW for the meetings. I tried E-diets and I just can't do it alone. I need a ton of support to kick me in the butt.
I will tell you guys this because I don't know you all and I feel fine telling you(my DH doesn't know) I weigh 245 pounds, the heaviest I have ever been. I want to be about 135-145 pounds so that means 100-110 to lose. If I really try hard and exercise how long will it take? Has anyone lost this much before? I'm guessing about a year but I don't know for sure. Anyway thank you all for the conversation and support.
Y'know, I do WW and Ive lost 17 lbs in 9 weeks!! It's a great program and you can eat anything in the right quanitity.
Can you afford to join for, say, ten weeks and then maybe join us on the WWs board? I don't go to meetings; I get all the support I need on the board. I have the materials from when I *used to* go to meetings.
Just a thought...
Oh, and PS: half a grapefruit is not breakfast! Try one pouch of plain instant oatmeal made with water. Stir in a 1/2-cup of unsweetened applesauce. Add a portion of fruit and a glass of LF milk. Oatmeal has staying power. Or, an omelette: 1 whole egg, 3 egg whites (I buy the cartons), fresh spinach, chopped tomato and a slice of lean ham. Sprinkle with onion and garlic powder and a TB of parmesan cheese and you have a meal!!!

glammie . . . .
Thank you that omelet(sp) sounds great. I would like to come to the WW board. I will have the money to join in a few weeks. I do want the meetings. I need support coming out of my ears to do this. Anyway you will see me at the board soon.
Today I am starting the special K diet. until I go to WW. Thank you again
I dont know about prozac causing weight gain or not. I would do an internet search and see if other women have had problems with it. I like wellbutrin because it has a side effect of weight loss....HOORAY.
I have lost 120 pounds on ww, in 2003. It took me about a year and a half of serious lifestyle change. I went to the gym at least 5 times a week and worked out an hour there and was very strick about my intake...stuck right to the ww program. But it still took about a year and a half. The smaller you get the harder and slower the progress i have found. You can do it...if i can, anyone can. But you wont get there by starting the special k diet. You might need to educate yourself about nutrition...ww is really good for that. They teach you what foods keep you full, what foods dont, etc. I sincerely hope you dont do the special k thing. You will end up hurting yourself if you go from 600 cals a day on the special K thing to weight watchers...your body will get used to that little amount of cals and you wont lose when you eat what ww suggests you intake. It will back fire on you, is what i am trying to say. Plus really can you ONLY eat two bowls of cereal and a low fat/low cal dinner? I couldnt, i would binge eventually. Plus that few amount of cals only puts your body into starvation mode and you will lose muscle, if anything, not fat. There is no quick fix to weight loss...i promise...believe me i have looked...the only way to do it is the hard way unfortunately. Get you some books about nutrition, it can really make a difference if you are educated about the nutrients your body needs when dieting. You have to take it all into account...not just starve yourself...that will never last and is not good for you anyway. :-)

Burn1435,
I was on Prozac in college and I actually lost 25 pounds on it. I've heard of some people taking it for weight loss. Of course, your milage will vary, but it's supposed to be easier on weight gain than others.
