I used IUD's for a very short time, but then I started bleeding very heavily during my period. Doctor said it's normal, so I went on a vacation outside the country. But then I continued bleeding for a month and I got it removed as soon as I got home. The bleeding stopped immediately afterwards.
I've been told I'm a special case and most women don't react like that. A great advantage in that very short time was the "free" feeling. You don't feel the IUD at all.
I am on the regular pill I tried the seasonale 4 periods a year it was good for the first couple months then i started bleeding in between times and during sex so i quit taking it and back to regular i used to have the noraplant but they dont make them anymore I do not think so good luck and i do know that the patch is not useable if you weight is over 190 or 195 because i thought about using it and i have tried the shot and had the same bleeding affect but i seem to have less problem with the weight gain
I am on Nuvaring currently, and I love it! I used to be on the pill, then switched to the patch. The dr was a little concerned because I take it straight through. There are apparently huge amounts of hormones in the pill and even more in the patch, so she suggested Nuvaring. I have had no problem taking it straight through-with the execption of a little spotting my first month on it.
Going on 4 years with only 1 period per year. Woohoo!

Brevicon 28 day pill.
I heard the shot makes you gain weight. Three of my friends gained over 40 pounds. I don't know how much of it was the shot, though.
