Gallbladder Surgery- Newbie

I've posted here a couple of times over the last year, and am here yet again hopefully this time i stick with it. I am trying to lose weight before I get married next year. I just had gallbladder surgery on Saturday, and am still really sore. Has anyone else out there had gallbladder surgery, and if so do u remember how long it was before you could get back to doing things.

Well, just a little bit about me I guess. My name is Destiny, and I'm 23 years old. I have been overweight (obese) since I can remember. I wear a size 20, and am 5'2. I am hoping to get down to wearing a size 12 before I get married next August. I want to look how I feel. I have tried like every diet out there, and haven't found anything I can really stick too. I'm also not very motivated when it comes to exercising. I'm hoping that gets better now that I've had surgery. Anyone out there give me some much needed advice?

Thanks Destiny

HI wow Im really excited to post to you my name is Destiny Lavonne and 24 I am 4'10 and where I size 18-20 I also have always been overweight the smallest I was was a very tight 12. I have tried many times about two years ago I tried to lose weight i was 222 and got down to 182 and I got sick and my weight jumped to 195 and know I am 193 after a week of trying but the last few days have not been very good but I still have been exercising lucky for me I have my own room that I have a treadmill and a t.v. in and I just watch a movie when I walk what I do is get a calendar and right down how many minutes I want to walk I started with 20 for my first day and I have three months worth Like oct I have 2 is 20 min the 3rd I have 21 min 4th 22 min and so on for the whole month and then I put stickers on the days that I have met that goal and my calendar goes to december where my minutes are up to 45 min it really helps me to do it because I have it wrote down and if I didn't write the minutes I would proably only ever walk 15 minutes and say that was good enough. as for eatting less i have no suggestions as I can't seem to control myself.
I hope a smooth recovery for the surgery i do not know anything about it. Nice to met you and Hope are destiny comes true this time that we can stick with it and met are goals

Hi Destiny! Did you have the laparoscopic procedure with the 4 tiny incisions? I had my gallbladder out about 10 years ago, and I was pretty much back to normal within a couple of weeks. I DID have my hubby tie my shoes for me for the first little while, though ;-) If you had the traditional surgery with the BIG incision it will be a good 6 weeks, but I don't think they hardly ever do that one anymore. The GOOD news is that you'll never again have to suffer the agony of a gall stone, which I think is WAY worse than the healing from the surgery :-) They warned me that I'd have trouble with certain foods afterwards, and I haven't - I can eat whatever I want without pain. I'm glad you see this as an opportunity to create a healthy new you!

Hello-

I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago and my recovery was pretty quick. It was only a few days later that I was able to get up and about and doing my normal schedule. I was even extra sore because the ?anasthesia? made me sick. I was throwing up every 45 minutes for about 12 hours. So you can imagine, I was really sore. I think thats why it took me so long to recover. But a week later I had my stiches removed and after that I was okay. I didnt do any heavy exercises or anything like that but I was up cleaning and taking care of the kids and everything I always done. I would say that after 2 weeks max, it was like nothing ever happened.

Im perfectly fine now, I havent had any problems with certain foods or anything. Although I wouldnt want to go through it again though. LOL

Before that I had considered the weight loss surgery but after I had my gallbladder removed I was like naa dont think so.

Im sure you'll be fine in a few days. :-)
