Hello all,
I am back from my Napa vacation. Dh and I had a LOVELY time, it was great...unfortunately, i went way off course with the diet. I didnt really pig out...i even ate nonfat frozen yogert as a desert but still...all that "out of town food" was just too much temptation and i gave in on several occasions. Plus the BKF that was offered by the hotel was contenintal style and it was all sugar and carbs...BIG BUMMER...which of course made me hungry 20 minutes after i ate it and then set in the craving for more carbs and sugar...once i give in and eat the sugary stuff i get horrible cravings. Shame on me though. I was SO saddened when i got back in town and weighed to find out i have gained 6 pounds...6 pounds in 5 days....man oh man, it was not worth it. I surely cant lose 6 pounds in 5 days. So now i will have to spend 3 weeks getting off what i put on in 5 days...when if i hadnt done that, i could have lost 6 MORE pounds instead of gaining 6 pounds. Sad sad.
The only light at the end of the tunnel is that i am back on the wagon today. I wanted so badly to give up and just say to hell with it...but i found the strength and determination somewhere inside me to say, i must press on, even if i took two steps back...it happens...and i cant let it derail my entire plan.
So all in all, as disappointed in myself as i am, i am at least proud of myself for not letting it get me completely off the path, i just took a detour on the path, ha ha.

It isn't fair that we can gain back 6 pounds in less than a week, but it takes forever to get it off again. i did that a few weeks ago. I was really down and had a bad few days and gained 4 pounds. It has taken me almost 3 weeks to get it off. It is so not worth it, but I don't listen to myself when I want chocolate.
Good for you for getting back on the wagon today. That is just part of a life long change. you are always going to have bad weeks. The important thing is that you start again once you are back. I am glad you had a good vacation. I am sure the time you had with your Dh was well worth it.

Girl, half of that, if not 4 of that, is water and the weight of the food. Sounds like a lie, but I bet when you get back on the scale you'll see those 3-4 go off you in less than a week. Go ahead and give it a try. No sweat. :)

Hey Renee,
You are absolutely right...thank goodness. I weighed this morning and i was SO relieved. It was crazy though. When i got back i had gone from 273 to 278...then the next day was even worse...from 278 to 280...i was about to go insane. THen all of a sudden this morning i am at 274....WHEW.
I just dont understand what is with the water weight when you go off your diet for a few days...why does your body pack it on? Well at least it is easy back off...hopefully it will be a very pleasant surprise by next friday.

You know, I've been thinking about this. Food has its own weight, too, and as long as it's in you, it weighs you down. When it exits, your weight goes back to normal. Also, red meat and pork have a chemical in their fat that makes you feel bloated, and that can add to weight, too.
That's why I made my goal 155. I am going to aim for 150, but I know as soon as I begin maintainance, the weight of food and water will put me up to 155 consistently.
Well, hope you feel better! If anything, you only really gained a pound. Now you know what your body can take, and what it can't, when you have your diet take a siesta. Not too bad!
