Starting up all over again.

My name is Megan, I am 27, from Canada. I have a 2 year old daughter (well she will be 2 on the 4th of next month), and I have a wonderful husband that I have been married to for 6 1/2 years. I have about 200 lbs that I would like to lose, but am setting smaller goals, my first goal is to get down to 300 lbs. I am 1/3 of the way there from when I started. Unfortunitally the scale I have does not go above 270, so right now I am going by how my clothes fit. (I have a pair of jeans that fit perfectly at 307 lbs so right now those are my aim). I just pray that I will be able to stick to this this time.

I have been here once before, I didn't last long before I gave up. I am back, determined to stay. It's been on my mind a lot that this is what I need to do, so I am here to try again, with more effort. I have already made changes in my approach. First I told my husband this time, I didn't last time. We have talked many times that we need to make changes in our daily habits. Permanent changes, we have a 2 year old little girl and I DO NOT want her to be like this. I am right now around 340 lbs (I was 360 at the beginning of the summer so I have made some early progress). I have already started tracking what I eat and drink daily. I have a big problem getting water, and I am addicted to soda. We are cutting out regular pop and buying diet, so at least I have a start there. But the water I just have a hard time talking myself into. I have started exercising too, so far 3x a week I am doing a video. The other two I had been planning on taking my daughter for a walk but its rained all week here so I haven't made it. I need to come up with an alternate idea for when it rains, but I have no equipment and no idea where to really start with exercise. We would like to have another baby in a few years, I would really like to get to a healthy weight for that to happen.

Anyway, I am not sure what else to say so Hello!
Megan

Hello and welcome. I think you will like this site...so many people in the same boat and wonderful support. I am at 273 down from 295 and i have also been in this situation before but i plan on this time being the last time i fight this battle. Just make sure you know with us it is not a "diet" it is a lifestyle change that is in order.

As far as working out in the rain...i like to walk too and i go to the mall before it opens and they let you walk the peremeter as much as you want. So that might be an option.

Just take baby steps though...if you over do it too quickly it will burn you out. So make small adjustments and when you get used to that adjustment make another one. Switching from regular soda to diet is a great start. Next maybe you could go from regular butter/margerine to light or from reg mayo to light...eventually you wont be able to tell the difference and believe it or not...once you get used to the diet colas, regular ones will taste like carbonated sugar water...just too much syrup, or that is what i have found anyway.
But good luck on your journey and glad you are here.
