First of all, welcome to Missy and Megan. There is lots of support to be had on this board. Which is great, because having so much weight to lose requires tons of support and encouragement. We all get frustrated, upset, and just plain tired of trying every now and then. But I have discovered having other people who are in the same boat as you are to vent to or share accomplishments with really helps. I myself have only been with this board for about 4 days now, but all the people here have been very helpful and encouraging.
As far as which diets really work and which ones don't, you have to keep one rule in mind--can you live with this plan for the rest of your life and still be happy? After that, make sure its well-balanced-- fruits, vegis, carbs, proteins, and yes, even a tiny bit of fat. The human body has a funny way of rejecting crash diet efforts. Moderate excercise is also a key factor. For some of us, "moderate" means walking further than from the couch to the refrigerator to the computer every day. Start out small, and add a little more as you go. Someone wrote in a previous message "100 pounds is too scary. I can't possibly do that much. But, I can lose 10 pounds 10 times. I can do that." No, this is not an exact quote, but I think that was the general idea behind it. Take baby steps, people, and those baby steps will grow into full-grown adult strides. Good luck to every one of you. I'm off to drown my sorrows in a glass of water. :) Have a great morning, and Happy losing!
