Hello. I'm ready to start the process of losing 100 pounds. I've tried a few times, with no luck, but I think I'm ready now. I've lost twelve pounds in the last year (post pregnancy). I have trouble staying on task, so I hope that becoming involved in a community like this one, with women who are seeking to lose a large amount of weight as well, will help me. I would appreciate any advice you have for me. Right now, the plan is to eat healthier, smaller portions, drink lots of water, and exercise for thirty minutes each day. Could you guys recommend a good method of setting goals?

Thanks.

Welcome to the board! I was in your shoes not very long ago. I lost 11 lbs in my post pregnancy year until I joined the board here and started seriously on my journey. This is a great support system and I encourage you to get active and post often. The idea of mini-goals is great, it doesn't leave you overwhelmed with the big number. I set 20 lbs increments. Some ladies set 10 lbs increments. Some ladies set a goal of 10% of body weight. Set whatever works for you!
I am a huge fan of journaling and I recommend you try that at least in the beginning. I write down the food I eat (even the bites here and there). You may get surprised on how much you actually eat. You can also add comments on how satisfied you feel after a meal and so on.

Hi and welcome to the best little group I know. It sounds as though you have a good plan (healthy eating, lots of water, moderate excercise) mapped out for yourself. Setting smalll goals will definitely help. One member wrote that telling yourself to lose 10 pounds 10 times is easier than saying I need to lose 100 pounds at once. I totally agree with her. This is a great place to come to for advice, support, or sometimes just to vent. Good luck to you.
