For those of you who don't know me yet, my name is Katherine and I am a 31 year old housewife. I don't have kids, but I have lots of nieces and nephews whom I love dearly. I decided about a week and a half ago that I had had enough of being fat, and turned to this board for support. Everyone has been really great here.
I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting last night in over a year. And I am so glad I finally went! I was trying to estimate my weight, because I am too big for a normal bathroom scale right now. I thought I was 375 (or higher, but I didn't want to think about it). I weighed in at my meeting and guess what? I'm at 362.8!!! Yay! Twelve pounds may not seem like such a big difference, but it really made me happy. I'm looking forward to going back next week.
I finally broke down and told my hubby what I'd been up to. He says that he will do whatever he can to be supportive, but I think I'll put those sentiments into the "wait and see" column. Not that he's mean or anything, he just doesn't understand what its like to be so overweight. He's never been more than 20 pounds overweight in his whole life. But I'm babbling now, sorry.
Good luck to everyone with the courage to change your lifestyle. Look out 145, here I come!

Congrats. I understand what you mean about those twelve pounds. I don't have a scale, and I weighed myself at my SIL's house and I was twelve pounds lighter than I thought. I was very excited, to say the least. I'm glad you told your hubby. I hope he is very supportive. Either way, I'm sure you'll be able to get lots of support from the people here.
