Oh God, the end of this month is SO gonna suck.

I bought the kids (my students) 5 bags of candy, each weighing 5 pounds. I will give them out on Monday, and I am trying to tell myself not to eat any of them -- not even the smartees. I'm really nervous. It's easy to say "Well, I'll just have ONE," but if you teach five classes a day, that's five pieces -- at least!

I did do well today, though -- the kids had to read their poems today (I taught them a ton of poetic devices over the last three weeks, and they had to utilize them in poems they wrote themselves), and I made a cute coffee house setting. I put black fabric on the white board, got a black music stand with black scarves on it, and got lots of lights (the ones that have three posable lights on them) for a stage effect. We snapped our fingers when they were done, too. Well, anyway, I bought them all muffins, cookies, and biscotti (for 120 kids!), and didn't eat ONE! So, I'm hoping that after I do this again tomorrow with my remaining classes, and have Halloween on Monday, I will be used to looking at goodies in the face and saying no.

Not that candies and treats are off limits, you know? I could have a few and let it ride because I've been good, and a few is a lot less than I would have had before I dieted; I just want to have none and say no without breaking a sweat.

Sorry for the long rant. Why am I so worried? I can't believe food has such a grip on my life!

I usually don't buy halloween candy until the day of or the day before so I'm not tempted to eat it all! But last night DH comes home with a bag and says "You didn't buy any candy yet right?" Grrrr... But, he was a very good and smart man and didn't buy anything chocolate! Even better what he got is all stuff I don't like! (runts, laffy taffy, bottle rockets, etc.) If I can just manage not to eat all my kids chocolate life will be good. Actually, I think I'll let them pick out about 10 pieces and send the rest of it to work with DH Tuesday morning.

LOL - I bought mine stuff that I don't like - so they're getting licorice, gummy bears and mars bars. I did the same with the stuff we're handing out at home, but the stuff for school is definitely the bigger issue since it sits right there in my desk tempting me all day :-) Speaking of the treats for home - I'll have to buy more. I bought a HUGE bag of mixed chocolate bars, and my husband ate every last one of them.

Rene -

You know you could go buy you some of those low carb candies. Herseys had some awsome dark choclate candies that are sugar free. They are very satisfying and just knowing that they are there and that I can eat them anytime I want keeps me from WANTING TO EAT THEM.

And you won't want to eat too many because some people have experianced a going to the bathroom side effect.

Now I am not a candy person...so I don't know if that will work for you. But try something along those lines.

And we are not on a diet! We are experiencing and new way of eating.
