I'm trying to be good...really I am!

I started today with the best of intentions. I went to lunch with 2 of my co-workers and ordered a grilled chicken salad (forgoing my normal cheeseburger and fries!) And when they stopped and got frozen yogurt on the way home I passed.

I came back to work and had a meeting with one of my students. Wonderful student and I enjoy speaking with him. The problem? He brought COOKIES! LOL! I tried to be grateful but decline, but he wasn't taking no for an answer and here I sit with four cookies (not small ones either) sitting on my desk. I've thought about throwing them out, but I hate wasting food (obviously!)

Anyway, I'll probably end up giving them away (I'm not hungry and thankfully have no desire to eat them at this point) but I just needed to ask - how do you handle people who "push" food on you? When a "no" obviously isn't working and they won't just accept "I don't want any, thanks!"

Hope you're all having a great day! :)

PS: Has anyone tried the "Walking Off the Pounds" videos? The reviews on Amazon.com seem pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone here had tried them. TIA!

You've got a lot more grace and willpower than I do, thats for sure! I'm not doing so good on my "diet" this week. I also have a difficult time with well-meaning people who "push food on me. I am honestly trying to do better though. If you get any ideas on how to deal with this, pleeeaaase let us know. I think its part of the reason people come to this board. Sorry I couldn't be of any help though. Good luck to you.

I have a small box in my drawer for these things. IN the drawer not ON the desk. So if someone is really pushy, I put the things in the box and when I leave, I give the box to someone in the street.

But that wouldn't work very good if you really crave the stuff and keep thinking about it all day. If I know I will REALLY want to eat it later in the day, I refuse to take it as if there was poison in it. Or I take it, wrap it in paper (so the person doesn't see me) and throw it away in the trash (and not the paper trash under my feet).

And about the video, do you mean Walking Away the Pounds (the WATP series)? I haven't used it personally, but I heard a lot of the members here were really happy about it and does not feel like an exercise burden. It's a "like to do" rather than a "have to do" thing. Most of the old members have mysteriously disappeared for the past 2 weeks. Weird!!
