I guess, lucky for me, the holiday isn't that big of a deal. It's just me and my mom. My advice is MODERATION. Go ahead and have a slice of pie...but no more. It's nothing wrong with a little treat in moderation. If you're like me and feel guilty about that little treat, 30 minutes on the stationary bike might help the guilt. Eat those veggies too. Send leftover goodies to the skinny relative, LOL! ~Tasha :)

Great post!! I suck at holidays. Thank God we don't celebrate thanksgiving, that's one less holiday to worry about. But I'm going to 3 celebrations in the upcoming 2 weeks. Two of them are family events (with dinner, drinks, the works). So I definitely need some tips.

The only thing that I've tried and worked, is to eat a full dinner before I go to the party. Mainly lots of cooked veggies and grilled chicken. That minimizes the urge to nibble throughout the event. But once we sit down to eat, ah well..

Well, I'm just going to have my dinner and call it a day. I'm going to eat what I want, and let it go. I think if you've been dieting for that long, and have lost that much, who cares about one day. Besides, you're stomach will have shrunk by then, so a little may go a long way. Also, you might restrict yourself without even knowing it!

Just don't tell yourself "I can't have this because," or "I should onle have a slice because." Meh. Eat. You'll be fine. And you know what? So what if you gain a pound that day (excluding water). You lost so much already! Give yourself a break.

I don't like bread and such, so I think I'll be okay. It'll mostly be meat and veggies for me. I think that'll work in my favor.

Worse come to worse, count callories, and give yourself 2200. I will, I think.

I sound random because I'm tired. Sorry! LOL

The whole point of Thanksgiving is being together with your family and being thankful. So don't make it all about the food. For large families touch football or some people here call it flag football makes everyone move. If sweat is not your thing take a walk in the leaves with some of the kids-trust me you'll thank yourself and the parents of the house will thank you-parks are great because then you can play on the equipment-not the best sight to see I'm sure with my arse in the air as I go up the crawl but the thrill of going down a slide again is fantastic. I'm starting to rediscover why I didn't have weight problem then life was to much fun even when so many things were unhappy the slide, the swing, and a good ol' game of tag are great.
PS- My advice don't try the monkey bars until you build some arm strength!

My Thanksgiving day advice: fill your plate w/ as much vegetables as you can first, then put on a little turkey and dressing. You'd be surprised how much room those vegetables take up! Then, if you are STILL hungry after that first plate, have a little dessert, then get out! Go for a walk, visit w/ family, watch the game on tv, read, or whatever gets your mind off of the kitchen. Hope this helps.

its good to live in canada: thanksgiving is in the beginning of october, so theres more time between thanksgiving & christmas dinners. That = more time to burn off weight from gorging on delicious turkey... mmm, turkey...
