yesterday I went to my boyfriends grandmas house for a birthday party. his family is really very nice, but they kept on pushing more and more food on me. I had a peice of meat about the size of a deck of cards, some carrots, a dinner roll, corn, and a glass of milk (and I thought that was pretty reasonable). And then they started pushing all this food on me.. Have more meat, they say! Have this big peice of cake, they say! I told them I'm trying to lose weight, but they just kept on pushing and pushing. what can I do to get people to stop trying to overfeed me??

Bypass telling them you are trying to lose weight, and just tell them you are full. Dinner was delicious, but I just couldn't eat another bite! Stick to it! Good luck!!

It must be something with grandmothers.... :) I have to use some trickery at my family gatherings. I take a smaller portion than what I typically would, just so I can grab "seconds". I end up eating the amount I normally would, but since I went back for more, my grandma doesn't keep prompting me to take more.

I like your idea about grabbing seconds. I think this might work better with family than saying: no I'm trying to lose weight. I'll have to try that.
