Hi
I am new here to the board. I am 26 years old and weigh 284 pounds. I have had weight problems for as long as I can remember. I always try to eat healthier and exercise but then I lose all motivation and quit. I have anemia and a few other health problems that really cause me to have little energy, so exercising has always been hard. I have decided that it is time to get healthy, exercise and lose weight. I want this time to be different, I want this time to work. I have joined this board cause I need help. I need to talk with people going through the same thing that I am. I want to help motivate people and have them motivate me. I would like to have people give me tips on how to lead a healthier lifestyle so that I could help others in the future.

welcome to the board cavprincess. You came to the right place for motivation and support. We all here understand how to be that much overweight and the struggle that comes with it. Please feel welcome to post as often as you can.

Don't get discouraged and give up soon. It is doable. Even if it slow, it will eventually add up. I lost over 30 lbs since I joined this board. I didn't think it was possible then, but now I know I'm on a roll. I lose very slowly, but that doesn't discourage me. I finally started to see big changes in the way I look and that's motivation enough for me.

Looking forward to knowing you better.

Hello cavprincess. I am also brand new to this board. Hopefully, we can motivate each other! I've lost 60 lbs. since January, 05. I know it's a lot slower than some people lose, but that seems to be how my body loses weight! I'm okay with that though... now! My biggest hurdle was getting over the fact that I thought it was taking me too long to lose the weight. But, as the saying goes, slow & steady wins the race. I lost about 30 lbs. before anyone even started noticing! So, I was upset about that, but I felt healthier, so I kept it up. Eventually, people started noticing & that helped to motivate me too. Lately, I've felt myself becoming somewhat "un-motivated" and that's why I decided I needed to come here! Anyway - good luck to you!

Well I am 2 days into eating healthier and I am doing ok. Its hard to get started but I am trying hard. I finally came up with some realistic goals for my weightloss so that should help me work towards my goals. I need to cut back on my calories, fat grams and carbs. For the past couple days I have found my self looking at all the nutrition labels in my kitchen. Anyone have any tips for cutting back on carbs and fat and calories?

The biggest problem I have had so far is getting around to exercising. I need to exercise but the day just seems to get away from me.

Thank you for welcoming me to the board. I am going to work hard to keep motivated to live healthier. I am looking forward to getting to know you all better too.

Furbabies6, keep up your good work and stay motivated.

Hey and welcome. With existing health problems, I don't want to tell you anything to do as far as diet. You have to be super careful not to aggravate your system if things like that are going on. But with exercise, you follow Nike and Just Do It. Find something you like. Walking is good. Take someone with you that understands your goals. I walk with my husband and the whole walk we talk about health and weight loss. By the time you've finished, you're motivated to do it again and understand your feelings better. Your walking partner is often a good source of feedback on ideas and might have some good ideas of their own. If you can't walk with someone, do it anyway. Visualize yourself fit and healthy, striding down that path. And DON'T tell yourself you'll do it later. You won't. When you know you should be walking, don't give yourself an option. Don't even think about not doing it. When the thought hits - "I should be using this time to walk" - go. Think less, do more. Works for me. Hope this helps :)
