Hi. I'm new to the Board. I am currently 5'7, 280 lbs. My goal is 165-150 lbs. As a nursing student, I was surpised to see how what we eat affects our entire body, from our thought processes to our toe nails.I have learned the importance of Diet and Exercise as a part of everyday living. I decided to join this board for your support as well as to help you all as much as I can. 130-115 is a lot of Pounds, It seems like a million. I am REALLY going to need all the help I can get. I look forward to getting to know you all. I am excited about my journey to my healthy new lifestyle.
See Ya Around

Lucky you - most of us never learn what you've experienced. It would probably make us even more determined if we knew about all that. Oh well. I know enough to know I'm unhealthy and I'd be better off at about half this weight :) So that's a good start huh? Looking forward to your insight. Welcome to the board.

Hey there,
I usually don't post on this board (I'm a lurker!), but I am going to school to get my Masters to become a Physician Assistant (PA-C). You are so right-on about the foods that we eat and how they affect everything in our bodies. It's so crazy to look at in from the medical perspective. Since studying biochemistry and what not, I have almost totally stopped all unnatural foods. I eat real, whole foods as much as I possibly can. I didn't even realize the Equal or Splenda I used in my iced tea was giving me headaches until we started talking about it in biochem! I am very sensitive to artificial ingredients and additives. MSG knocks me out -- I get all flushed in the face and hot and then I go to sleep. So, I just eat lots of veggies, proteins, fats, and some fruits, and some grains. That's it. And I feel so much better. Thank you for posting this as a reminder! :)
