My mom had bariatric surgery not quite a year ago. She looks horrible and she's almost always sick. Her weight loss was far too fast and - you guys worry about loose skin? - she looks like a Shar-Pei. Some people die from that surgery, you know? Besides, I think I'll be a lot less likely to gain the weight back after my blood sweat and tears to shed it naturally. And no doubt she will have complications later in life if she ever needs stomach surgery, etc. Scary, just scary.

I don't usually post on this board, but I TOTALLY agree with you. I would never, ever get gastric bypass. In the past, I considered the Lap Band, which is just a restrictive measure (no intestinal rearrangement) and you can still have any medical tests still done. But I decided against it. I want to be healthy, fit, and vibrant. I have yet to see someone who has had gastric bypass look that way. They are usually unhealthy, anemic looking. Sorry if I'm too opinionated. That's just me! :)
