Hi--

Here I go again on my neverending battle to lose weight. It seems like I'm always on a diet, then I fall off, then I go back on, over and over. If I had just stuck with it the first time, I'd be in shape now....

A little about myself. My name is Kate, I'm 31 and married, no kids (but hoping to soon, although I think my weight has been an issue with getting pregnant.) I'm an RN, so I know what is healthy, but doing it is another thing. I am 5'4" and currently weigh 252 pounds, down from 261 where I started two weeks ago.

I've been married for 5 years, with my husband for 7, and when we met I was between 155-160 pounds. I looked good. A little flabby, but good. Then my weight has gone up ever since then. My ultimate goal weight is 145. I'm a large framed person so that would be great for me.

I've tried specific diets, too numerous to mention, and this time around I think I'm just going to try to do the basic eat less and exercise more. If I could cut out the fast food to begin that would be great, because I eat it almost every day. Got on the treadmill for the first time in awhile tonight. Didn't last too long but at least I got on!

I see that this board has been pretty quiet lately, but I am sure it will pick up after the holidays. But I'm here and need all the help I can get. Hopefully I can help you too

Hi! Sussie here.

Welcome to the boards....I have been gone for a while, just lurking every now and then. It has been crazy at work and I have gained all my weight back. Boo-Hoo!

Congratulations on the 9 pounds lost!! So, you're already on track. All you need to do is continue. I was a huge fast food junkie myself, but believe it or not, I don't miss it anymore. Just cut back slowly and you won't feel deprived. Downsize then eliminate the coke & fries. When you feel ready, make another step: decrease the number of times you go for fast food. And so on. You won't feel deprived and you will build good eating habits for the future.

Good luck!

Hi there.

I'm a newbie as well. I've just stumbled across this board recently. I think it's a great source of info and it's nice to know that there are others struggling with the number 100. . .I weighed myself recently for the first time and was shocked to realize that I should lose at least 100lbs. I work out regularly and eat well. I guess I just didn't realize how far I really have to go. Crazy isn't it? But we're getting it done.

I'm actually curious about the number at the bottom of everyone's posts (ie. Mary
247/214/165). What do they mean?

Thanks

Sharon

Welcome to the board Sharon.

247 is my maximum weight when I started dieting
214 is my weight right now
165 is where I want to be (i.e. goal weight)

Thanks Mary for the advice about cutting back on the fast food. I like the idea of downsizing..and then completely stopping it. Of course, I'm trying to stay away from it completely but if I go, I'll at least think about the downsizing. Every little bit helps, right?
