I am really not sure how this site works yet. I really thought that I would like to have some contact with other people who are trying to lose weight as well. My story is long, but the shortened version goes like this...Three years ago, I was pregnant with my daughter and my doctor had asked me at one of my visits if anyone had ever told me that I had an enlarged thyroid (goiter). I replied no...so blood tests were done and all of them came back with the same verdict...My hormones are all within the normal ranges and they did nothing more. I became the squeeky wheel and now three years later, my results have changed. I am now taking synthroid and feeling much, much better than I had in the time between pregnancy until now. At first I thought that I was just going to have to live with the way that I felt for the rest of my life. That was until I met with an endocrinologist. I had tried dieting and exercise for those three years and all I ever did was gain weight. Now I weigh more than I did when I was nine months pregnant and I definitely have a long long way to go before I can be considered within the healthy weight range. I do have right about one hundred pounds to lose. Does anyone have any really great motivations that they would like to share with me? Weather is terrible this time of year and with all the holiday stress I really would like to know what you are doing to reach your goals!

Hello SussieQ here.
Is the endocrinologist the doctor who gave you the synthroid? I was wondering if an endocrinologist could do better than my internist at working the right amount of synthroid I take to get me stright. I am in a gray area. I am having trouble losing weight.
With that being said, I don't exercise, well I do some, but not daily or weekly, in any case not enough to say I exercise.
As far as for motivation the ladies here are great. I would put written affermations on my bathroom mirror so that I could see them every morning. Putting a before and after picture of your self on the frige ought to work too.
Getting a buddy here to talk to daily would be good. But most of us are really busy so I suggest getting a couple of buddies so that way you can be asured of talking to someone daily.
Past posts will really show more stuff...there are a lot of gimicks we use to help us along. I suggest posting a new thread titled "I need motivation hints" and stand back.
Of course the boards are slow this month due to the holidays but those that check in can help.
What diet or "WOE" are you following?

Welcome!
I'm new too (been here about a week.) For me, the best motivation is how I feel..I hate how I feel now..I hate being out of breath just getting dressed, I hate not being able to bend over decently to put socks and shoes on, and I hate being depressed (for me, depression goes hand in hand with my weight.) I've tried to lose weight so many times that outside motivations just don't work for me...but we all want to lose weight to make ourselves feel better and healthier, so that's what I'd go with. Good luck!
