This is my first post and I'm trying to figure out where to start. I guess the beginning.
Call me Ivy, I'm 34 and my present weight is 230. I'm completely lost, and amazed at my self for gaining this amount of weight over the past 4 years. I was never thin but maintained between 130-150 lbs, and pretty active. In '96 I gained weight after college, and within a year lost it all with dieting and excessive working out. I've always enjoyed running, strength training, and boxing (non contact of course!). In the Naval reserve I was in the top five for endurance training. Now it's 2005 had a baby in 2002 and I never lost the weight. I came pretty close during the first 3 months after the baby, but could not hang on. I had only 15 more pounds to go to reach 145!! Due to life changes ( divorce, school, work, and no time) the work out faded away and the motivation. I try to work out or get on the treadmill but I become depressed, and think about how I was able to run 3 miles in 23min or have energy to do everything I needed to do.
I just want to be able to keep up with my 3 year old son. Humorously, I try not to measure weight loss by pounds, but by physical changes in my body. My first goal is to return my backside to it's original place, and size and get it off my back!!

Believe me Ivy!

Most of us woke up amazed at the weight gain we got too after our babies or not!

Welcome to the boards! It's a little slow right now due to the holidays but hang on and get ready for a ride!

The really sad thing is when you don't have any kids and you still have "baby fat." :)

Thank you so much!! I can see already that I have support. I've been feeling pretty alone in this journey.

Alone in this journey? Highly doubtful! Stick around and you'll find a lot of support on this board. I also gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy. About 70+ pounds. I have a 2 year old and I want to catch up with him too. Plus I want another baby soon.

I look forward to knowing you better.

Hi Ivy,

I'm a newbie here too. I'm 37 years old with no kids. When I was in high school I was taking dancing lessons about 12x a week, but now (much later), I'm starting from square one. I've made resolutions before and kept them, but this time I want to keep it off. I'm also hypothyroid and have finally found a good doctor and gotten my medication dosage right, so I'm hoping it will help me keep it off. You are definitely not alone!!
