New and Looking For Support

Hello everyone,
I just ran across this board today and I think it is just what I have been looking for. I am 28 years old and weigh 233lbs. This is the most I have ever weighed in my life, and I have given birth to 2 beautiful children. I have to take control of my life now or I am not going to be around for my 2 girls. I need to find someone to give me a little support and just a little message now and then to keep me going. We have recently moved to a new city 2 hours away from family and friends, so I dont have a support team to lean on when I need it. They were all blessed with the skinny gene so they really dont understand what it is like. I am going to start off the new year on the right foot. I do not want a quick weight loss that will come back. I want a healthy lifestyle change. I would love to get down to 125lbs which is what I weighed 9 years ago when I got married but I know that will probably not happen. I will be happy with anything in a healthy weight range for me I am 5 foot 6 inches. Any support would be great and I will do everything possible to support any one who needs it.

Hi Michelle and welcome to the board. I am new to the board too and love it. We are both in the same age range ( I'll be 30 in April) and have kids ( I have 3). Maybe we can be diet buddies..feel free to e-mail me at motivatedmom06@yahoo.com . We can do this together!

I truly understand!! I have 1 child and gained 70 pounds!! I'm now 230, and I want to be around for my son. I've lost a lot weight before (70)after college and it took 1 year to do it!! What I learned about myself was that it was ALL mental and emotional. Counting calories the first 6 weeks and cutting back on sugar reduced cravings, and my stomach began to shrink. Once I gained control of my eating, after 6 wks I added physical activty ( walking, aerobics) 3x a week. By the 3rd month I was able to balance working out and eating. I wasn't getting frustrated if ate something I shouldn't had or missed a workout. I selected Fridays as my free day. No workout, and I ate anything I wanted. The consequence was that I had to workout Saturday morning regardless!! It really sucked one time I ate nachos and the next morning I tried to workout and it felt like weights were in my stomach!! Eventually I did not need free Fridays any longer and increased working out to 5-6x per week.

Now with less time than before I workout in the morning, but I have more weight than before to loose, and I get depressed. I'm a single mom now, and free time is golden. Before I used no special diet just learned what my body can and cannot breakdown in foods
e.g. no red meat, sugar, and salt. I can breakdown starches, breads, and a little pasta. The best result workout (to me) is boxing (non-contact)loose inches and tone up quick, and walking and running. I met military weight requirements in two wks (13lbs over) with boxing. I've started back and my energy is up, and my breathing has improved!! I hope this helps!! Keep a journal when you can. Don't be obligated to it but it's a great source for venting, or bragging about how good you look WHEN the weight falls off!!
Good Luck!

Hello Michelle.. I'm 27 and have 1 child and I weigh 216 now (I started at 247).. so I understand where you're coming from. I hope you enjoy your stay on the board. It provided me with a lot of support and it is one of the reasons that I keep going on.
