I'm so frustrated! I feel so much better, my jeans seem to fit better, my face is thinning out. But the scale is not budging!!!!!!!! I just don't get it. I know I am coming in somewhere around the right calorie mark. I just am not understanding. Its my first week. Walking 3 miles a day. Could it just take time for the scale to start showing stuff? Any advice/help would so appreciated. I am afraid of getting discouraged because of this.....TIA!

Don't give up! My body almost always takes two weeks to catch up on the scale once I start something. I know it is frustrating, but just keep at it, it will happen. Also, you might try doing your measurements (hips, waist, etc.). I had a couple of weeks where I didn't lose any weight, but I was working out and gaining muscle. I ended up losing almost an inch from my hips before the scale moved. As they always say, muscle weighs more than fat!

I'd definately recomend taking some measurments to help you from getting discouraged. And please take joy in feeling better! When I was losing weight before I actually lost 2 sizes without losing any weight. In the long run building more muscle increases your metabolism and makes it easier to lose and maintain your weight, but it does weigh more than fat. So you can look and feel better without losing weight. Keep up the good work, remember to drink enough water and get enough rest as well as eating well and exercising!

Also keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat. so starting a new work out regimin, you may have burned up some fat lbs, put you also added muscle lbs. Don't get down, in a few weeks you will see a change, if you stick with it. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn in a day (muscle burns calories/fat does not). As you build muscle, Your basal metobolic rate (bmr is the amount of calories your body burns in a day doing nothing but basic functions like breathing, and digesting and etc.) will rise, and your body will burn more calories per day (even at rest). I don't know what kind of rate you are trying to lose weight at, but keep in mind that it takes a caloric deficate of 3500 calories a week to lose one lb a week. so, once you know your bmr, if you eat 500 cals a day less and burn 500 cals a day in the gym, you will be losing aprx 2lbs a week. And if you follow this formula and the scale still doesn't budge, then you would know that you are losing 2 lbs of fat, but building 2 lbs of muscle, you will see the diff in your body too!

good luck

Do take measurements. The scale is not the only indication of weight loss and since your clothes are feeling looser and you can see it in your face, then definitely you're losing inches. Do keep going and don't feel discouraged. You're doing a great job!
