Do any of you use rewards for meeting minigoals? I've heard of doing that and thought I might give it a try. I'm three pounds away from my first (-20 lbs.) and have chosen a family activity that does not center around food. I was just curious if anyone had tried them and if they felt like they helped any.

Oh yes rewards are great. I have rewards every 5 lbs (I lose really slowly). I buy myself a book, CD, but lately it's been having dinner at a fancy restaurant. I know I shouldn't use food as a reward, but it's more like going out with hubby and dressing up. And yes rewards help a lot. You feel good about yourself. You accomplished something and earned a gift.. what could be nicer than that?

It is an awesome idea to have rewards built-in for achieving goals.
Some things that I used along the way:
new lipstick or nailpolish color
new fitness stuff (ankle weights, wrist weights, exercise videos, sneakers)
mini goal clothes in the new size
Oh, i like that one about the shower gel! Cute!
things I've used:
make-up
hair cut
new running shoes
new work out video
Tanning (i know i know it's bad for your skin blah blah)
books, movies, new sheets for the bed, cd's, mp3 player for the gym, manicure, pedicure,
If my weight loss was really slowing down, and i wanted to extra motovate myself, I'd (on passed diets) buy some little things, like $2 nail polish, new socks, a great writing pen, things like that, and put them in a bag, then I'd know that they were right there, and all i had to do to get one was lose 5 more lbs, then I'd draw one out like a grab bag! It was fun, cus you know whats in there but you don't know which one you will get.
