Hi. My name is Allison and I am 30 years old. I have a beautiful 6 yo daughter and a handsome 2 yo son. I have been married for 7.5 years. When I got married, I was around 180. I am now 243. I was absolutely disgusted with myself when I stepped on my scales last night. I am determined to turn my life around and lose this weight. I have been taking high blood pressure medication since I was 21 years old. I want to lost the weight and get my blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control. My dad and sister are diabetic and I just don't want it happening to me!
I am unable to join a gym (for money and time reasons). Does anyone know of any great workouts that I can do at home. I don't even really know where to start. I just know that I am going to lose this weight! I want to get to 135 pounds!
I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi Allison,
Come visit my page and say hi!Welcome to the board, Allison! I go the gym now, but started out by walking and doing circuit training (crunches, lunges, squats, leg lifts, etc.). Occasionally I would throw on a exercise video to break the monotony. As of Friday, I've lost 19 lbs. and it feels fabulous. Once you get going and start to see those results, it really is motivating. Good luck on your journey!

Hey alleigh, Maybe when your daughter is in school you and your son coulld go for a walk, just put him in his stroller, and away you go. This is what I did when my girl was 2, I lost a lot of weight, very fast.
I made sure to go at least 3-4 times a week, and only for 30-40 min each time. It also was good to get out of the house.
I am going to start walking again myself, this time I have no excuses, not working right now, so I have lots of time while my girl is in school.
good luck

I just wanted to welcome you to the board. I have a 2 yo myself and I know how it is almost impossible to find any time for exercise. My son doesn't like strollers either, so that kills the walking alternatives. But I can fit a bit of exercise at night if he sleeps early. It's not regular, but it's better than nothing. And we do some dancing together on video tapes and he tries to imitate me. It's a lot of fun, bonding, and we workout a sweat.
Welcome again

You sound so much like me it isn't funny. My mom has HBP and Diabeties and I fear that as well. I got married 6.5 yrs ago, met my hubby 7.5 yrs ago and I too only weighed 180-185 and now I weigh 251, starting at 255 a week ago. I wish you the absolute best of luck. I fortunately was able to join the YMCA because I don't like to be alone when I work out do to my having asthma, but if your child will sit in a stroller and you can find time to walk around your neighborhood, I agree that would be a great start. My son (19 months) would rather walk then he either wants to stop and sit in the grass and play or run away from me LOL. I hope you find a niche that works for you. Good luck!
