Anyone have any healthy ideas for mindless snacking while watching the tube or whatever? I have chopped up veggies and some fruit (easy on the fruit tho.) and of course there is always WATER! But I find myself reaching for too many pretzals or rice cakes. Any thing else out there that helps get me through the nite? I know that there is no gain without the pain and sacrifice but I need something to get me through this initial period of major change.

Have you tried nuts? They have more fat a calories, but they are the good kind and really fight hunger. Just make sure you portion them out and don't just eat out of the can. I like almonds and lightly salted peanuts. I also like popcorn, just not the movie theater butter kind. Once again, portion before hand so you don't end up eating the whole bag. Throw in a diet soda or crystal light drink and you've got it made!

94% popcorn with a diet cola is a favorite movie time snack.

Lean protein is a good choice too.. I love smoked turkey breasts.

Fat free yogurt blended with fruit makes a nice smoothie. You can add artificial sweetener if you have a sweet tooth like me.

Flavored herbal teas with a stick of Cinnamon. It's takes a long time to finish and it is nice in this cold weather. It's not really a snack, but more of a past time to avoid raiding the fridge LOL

One thing I munch on when I have one of those cravings are those Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs. They come in Chips Ahoy, Oreo, Peanut Butter Crisps and Ritz Snack Mix. They are yummy (even though low fat/low cal) and they come in little bags - already portioned out for you!

Hope that helps!

If you really just need something that you can just eat and eat, try light microwave popcorn. Orville Reddenbacher's 94% fat free butter flavor only has about 250 calories per BIG bag and they also make 100 calorie snack packs. A big bag has like 14 cups or something, so you get A LOT of food. It actually has a decent amount of fiber, too, so it's better for you than pretzels or rice cakes, and you get a lot more. If you don't like popcorn or the other low, low calorie choices, try carving more calories out of your day so that you can have more at night. Heck, I've even been known to eat a field green/tomato salad with Olive Garden dressing while sitting in front of the TV, and that's only about 100-150 calories for a big platefull of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with 2 T Olive Garden dressing. I'm naturally less hungry during the day than I am at night, so I have always eaten only about 1/3 of my calories before 5 pm, then the rest after. Even doing that, I still managed to lose aobut 3-4 lbs a week, when I wasn't pregnant like I am now :).
