I thought this might be a good message board for inspiration and motivation. I am the only one out of my family and friends who is overweight and I realize that I can do something about it. It just gets frusterating at times and no one really understands so I hope this will help. People don't think my weight bothers me but it does...i think about it every day.

So I just wanted to say Hi and I look forward to everyone's support and advice

Hi Krissy.. you're in good company here. I know exactly what you mean.. weight is always in my mind too.. even if I want to get it off my mind, reminders of being overweigh is always right there. Starting from getting dressed in the morning.. to the aching body at night.

And speaking of people who have no idea what we're going through: There's a tiny girl here at the office who just started a diet.. and then it became a trend, the rest of the ladies started diets as well.. they say they have like 5-10lbs to lose (frankly I see they are skin on bone).. they keep talking about how it's a "struggle".. Struggle??? give me a break!!

Welcome aboard

Hi Krissy,

Welcome,

If there is one thing you have to believe, never give up trying. It's a shame that we let our fears get in the way of our dreams, just keep dreaming and it will happen.

You are right, you CAN do it!!!

Good Luck

I hear you! And when they do offer ideas/advice, they are often based on their skinny little bodies. I just had a size 8 friend tell me that instead of plugging away at the treadmill at 3.6 mph, I should be boosting my heart rate by doing a dead run every couple of minutes for as long as I can stand. HA! I jogged a few yards for the first time in years the other day and my joints were screaming from the impact. They mean well, they just haven't lived this life and don't think of things like that. Everyone here is very supportive and has been there in some form or another. Welcome and good luck!

I love your outlook about the "skinny" trying to lose a couple of pounds!

Welcome to you too, I am new too, but fortunately for me I do have a friend that more than understands. Hoping this is encouraging but she lost over a hundred and has kept it off for over a year now, and that encourages me to try harder too. Wish you luck

I have a younger sister...I am 23 and she is 16 and we have never been too close. I resent the relationship her and my mom have. Basically my mom always tells her how wonderful she is and me and my mom just don't have the same kind of relationship.

So me and her are the same height but she's about 140 and I'm about 230 and she is always complaining about how fat she is and then goes to the diner. And then when we have a fight has the nerve to call me Fat which totally kills me.

So I secretly (although I know how horrible it is to be big and probally wouldn't wish it on anyone) want her to be my size so she will shut her mouth.
