Okay, I was told that cheese, and milk is really bad for someone who gains weight in their tighs, and hips, because it latches on to your inner thigh, and hips, and it's hard to get rid of. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? I am a big cheese eater, and I don't want to stop eating it, but if that's what's adding to my inner thigh and hip problem I'd have to work on cutting back. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

There's no truth to that at all. In fact, most recent studies have shown that getting enough dairy in your diet can help increase the amount of fat you lose overall. Granted, you may lose more first in your belly than your hips and thighs, but that's to be expected. The only thing that's tacking on layers to your thighs is excess calories :), no matter where they come from. What type of diet plan are you following? I always counted calories and usually had about 5 servings of low-fat cheese, milk or yogurt a day. I try to limit full fat cheese servings since it has more calories than lower fat stuff. But, if I'm eating a piece of cheese for a snack, it's full fat cheese all the way. It's not worth giving up the flavor/texture when you eat it plain. I think you are fine as long as you are watching your portions and not getting too many calories in your day. Remember, 1 oz is a serving...which is about 1/8 an 8 oz block of cheese or a hunk that is about 1" x 1/2" x 1/2", and that 1 oz of cheese has anywhere from 80 calories for reduced fat to 120 for full fat.

Thanks. I do watch my portions, and am journalling with calorie counting. I don't go over my calorie intake, I was just curious if the cheese was adding to the extra cushion on my thighs, and butt.

Nah! Don't blame the cheese, blame the genes! :). I love cheese, too, and if it added padding in the hips/thighs, I would probably be somewhat happy because then I'd at least have a butt/thighs! I have a problem with my waist being bigger than my thighs call for and when I buy pants to fit my waist, they are usually swimming on my legs. I'll trade you?

Women are either apples or pears, meaning, you either collect the majority of your weight in your hips/thighs/butt (Pear) OR you collect it in the belly (Apple).

The milk thing is totally untrue.

Okay, I have always had thunderthighs even when I was in shape they were large, because I ran all of the time(cross country, track and field, cheerleading, softball, marching band) I was a very active kid in highschool. My whole life when I've bought jeans, I had to buy them to fit my butt and thighs, and forget about the waiste. Up until recently, my pants always fit me way to big around the waiste, my belly started catching up to my thighs and butt about 4 months ago though. I would do anything to not have these thighs and butt, and to know what it's like to have slimmer thighs. I've never been able to wear junior pants because of my thighs, even when I was small. So if it was physically possible to trade you, I would. I have the curse of the "Gallo" butt and thighs, as my family would tease me when I was growing up. Being Italian isn't all that it's cracked up to be. The only thing that I'm truley grateful for from my genetic background, is that I have really good skin, and never had any problems with acne.

We all gain all over but the concentration is either in the hips/thighs or in the belly.

For instance, a 250lb woman that concetrates her weight in her hips/thighs can not get her size 24 jeans past her hips.

The same 250lb. woman that concentrates her wight in her belly can get the size 24 past her hips but can't button her jeans.

You see?

Well after taking my measurements yesterday finally, I am the biggest in my boobs and hips so.........who knows, I am just a weird person, I guess mine is more in my hips than my waist though. But hey I guess with my measurements I am an hourglass figure LOL, they are 49/40.5/49.5.

You are better than a pear...you are an hour glass! Very womanly.

Remember, it's safer to carry weight in the hips and thighs than the belly.
