How is everyone going to handle the issue of extra skin after losing weight?

I am considering getting a tummy tuck, when I get close to my ideal weight. I've already been in and had a map drawn on my belly as to what they would do, and got the price quote for it too. I've had 5 pregnancies, and given birth to 3 children, and I know all about the droopiness in that area of skin. The stretch marks are so imbarrasing too, that was the main reason that I had wanted one in the first place, but I've noticed, that even though I haven't been loosing the lbs that I've been loosing the inches, and the skin almost feels like jello, and is so deflated, that it kinda feels like I just gave birth. I know that it'll be extremely painful when I get it done, and expensive, but I think that it is going to be worth it. The doctor told me to allow 6 weeks for recovery, but that I would be able to start doing things(exercise, walking) if I'm healing correctly, around 4 weeks afterwards. Good luck in your decision, I know that as of now no one will be able to talk me out of getting one.

Definitely having a tummy tuck here, but after I'm through with having babies (have 1 kid so far). And I am not changing my mind.. even after I read the previous post about the 6 week recovery thing (YIKES!) But I'd rather suffer for 6 weeks than having hanging skin and stretch marks all my life.

And *gasp* you've been doing badly for a while? That's it.. you're banned from here for life!!

Honestly.. no need to be embarrassed.. welcome back

I know 2 women who have had their tummies tucked. They also had breast work done at the same time, one a lift only and the other a lift and enhancement (she had lost her boobs when she lost her weight). Both had good experiences and were happy with the results. Both paid less than 5000 for the tummy tuck but I think they got discounts due to the breast work. IF I have lose skin in that area once I lose the weight I am thinking of saving for it, but at this point I am more concerned with my breasts than anything, and think I want to have them lifted if exercise doesn't firm them up on their own. I never was a fan of plastic surgery til I gained all the weight and started thinking about what if I have sagging skin if I am to ever suceed in taking off the weight, believe me I have changed my opinion. Unlike my friend however I am not in the market for a breast enhancement...LOL I am actually hoping to lose some of mine.
I wish you the best of luck, and as for when to go in for a consultation I would say within a few months of when you want to have the surgery, after you have lost most of your weight. I believe that would be when they can more accurately tell what they need to do. HOpe this helps.
