I may have GD

Well, I took my 1 hour GTT test yesterday and today the doc's office called. Their upper limit is 130 and I scored a 166. I get to take the 3 hour test next week. I'm surprised I failed the test, because I have generally been eating a very healthy diet low in refined carbs and sugars, with the exception of a sweet treat every day, probably about 200-250 calories worth. I even had an egg for breakfast about 45 minutes before the test and still failed :(. I hope it was just a fluke thing and that I pass the 3 hour with flying colors, but if not, at least I already know how to eat and it's pretty much how I've been eating. I'll just have to cut out some of the starchier fruits/veggies I tend to eat a lot of and get more greens or something. I really, really don't want to have a ginormous baby...I was 9lb4oz and my brother was 10 1/2 and my mom didn't even have gestational diabetes! I will admit that the past few days my eating has been poorer than normal, so I need to get back on track. I just need everyone to make sure I keep up on that healthy eating, so feel free to kick me in the you know what if I Talk too much about junk food :).

I hope you don't have G/D. I hope the next test comes out clear! I know a LOT of women that have had to have the longer test since it is more accurate and pass it. Do you have to fast the night before?
I kind of laughed about you not wanting a big baby. I was in your shoes a couple years ago while I was pg with my youngest, and was so afraid of having a huge baby. I weighed close to 10 lbs when i was born myself, so I knew it was possible. I was at risk of having intra-uterine growth restriction, so the Doc was worried i'd have a tiny baby. I had multiple u/s to make sure he was growing ok. Well my last u/s showed him right at 7 and a half pounds and this was a couple days before i had him....he weighed over 10 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW! When the Doc performing my C-S said he was bigger than they estimated him by the U/S, I thought... oh my gosh I'm going to have a 9 lber, I couldn't believe how big he actually was! BUT, it was well received by all and everyone thought he was a little angel. He still seemed small to me. :-) The weirdest thing was at birth he was so big and as a toddler he's on the small size for his age.
I'm planning on having another baby in a year or two, and considering my first was 8 lbs, second was 10 lbs, the 12 lb size has crossed my mind. YIKES. LOL!
Sorry to ramble so much, but I do wish you the best on your test and keep us updated on your progress.
HUGS,
ANN
Please try not to worry about this. You're
HI... try not to worry too much about having GD
I had GD w/ my 1st pg, (but not my 2nd, and i was alot heavier during)...
and i found it easier to follow my GD diet than a regular diet because I wanted a healthy baby..
if you do have GD make sure they give you an appt w/ a nutritionist, they will go over your current eating plans and tell you how many carbs you should eat and at what times..
good luck

DS was 7lb 1oz (no GD, born at 38 weeks)

Thanks for asking, but haven't taken it yet. They didn't have an open appointment until this Thursday, so wish me luck! I sure hope I'm feeling better, because I've felt a little sick to my stomach the past couple days, and all that sugar on an empty stomach that doesn't feel good could be a bad combination. I'm really hoping I do well. I know a lot of women who fail the 1 hour go on to pass the 3 hour, but ugh, who really wants to take the 3 hour? I hope I get the results quickly after Thursday's test, but I will definitely update after the test.
